At the end of the class, the students will be able to:
Linguistic capacity: grasp the main idea of the passage and get the correct meanings of some idioms.

Cultural awareness: deepen students’ awareness of cultural differences in using English and appreciate the creativity, diversity and rich cultural meanings of English.

Step 1 Lead in
Read the following expressions and guess their meanings.
Step 2 Pre-reading
Explain the prefix “mis-” and the title of the passage.
Pose a question “What would you do when you encountered misunderstandings
Step 3 While-reading
Read the forum announcement quickly and answer the questions
A: What’s the passage mainly talking about?
B: What’s the purpose of the passage
Show examples of Internet language used in the passage and present their meanings
Read the passage carefully and find out which expressions caused misunderstandings.
Get students to discuss how we can do to understand the difficult words and expressions in their misadventures.
Read the text carefully through context and find out the correct meanings of idioms.
Step 4 Post-reading
Enjoy a video.
Have a discussion on what caused their misunderstandings.
Step 5 Summary&homework
Summary: In terms of the title, misadventure is not a disaster but an adventure. And all of us are in the adventure-the changing world, so we should spare no effort to learn and experience to understand others and also get yourself understood.
Homework: Think about more English words or aspersions that caused the misunderstandings
