In China, we chose Mount Tai, the most climbed mountain in the country. As Mount Tai is famous for its sunrise, we really want to view the fantastic sunrise from the top.No climbing experience is required; it is a strenuous walk over a paved (石铺的) path with more than 6,000 steps climbing 1,500 meters from the entrance to the top. The steps are extremely steep (陡峭的) at times, such as the steps leading up to the South Gate to Heaven, which looks almost vertical (垂直的). Guides are not necessary as the path is extremely easy to follow, but may be useful to introduce the history of Mount Tai.Climbing at night in almost total darkness is boring, meaning there are no views for visitors to see. The difference in elevation (海拔) from the entrance to the top is about 1,500 meters, meaning that it's likely to be cold and windy around the South Gate to Heaven and the top. So you'd better prepare warm clothes. If you start at 11 pm, you'll reach the South Gate to Heaven around 3 am, about 2 hours before sunrise. If you want some protection from the cold, there's a tea shop where you can sit and have a hot drink.Don't expect to be alone on the top—Mount Tai is very popular among Chinese tourists. If you're after a peaceful sunrise, this isn't the place for you. But for me, it was a worthwhile experience. The climb-up is a real challenge, but seeing the sunrise from a sea of clouds at the top and taking in the wonderful views on the way down makes up for painful legs and knees.24.What did the author want to enjoy most at Mount Tai?( )A.The famous local tea.B.The ancient buildings.C.The impressive sunrise.D.The night view of the mountian.25.What does the underlined word “strenuous” in Paragraph 2 mean?( )A.Lonely. B.Difficult.C.Comfortable. D.Safe.26.What is the author's suggestion for visitors in Paragraph 3?( )A.Keeping warm.B.Setting off early.C.Having a tour guide.D.Carrying enough water.27.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?( )A.Exploring the Secret of Mount TaiB.Mount Tai Top Things to DoC.The History of Mount TaiD.Climbing Mount TaiCI am a person who has always loved reading. For me, it is easy to get lost in a book and return to the world a couple of hours later having been on an adventure. As a 6-year-old, I could be found reading Harry Potter, a difficult book for a 6-year-old, but I enjoyed it all the same. Now, as a student, it is harder to find the time to read books for pleasure; however, I relish the summers where I have the time to read to satisfy myself. Growing up, it soon became clear that spelling for me was not difficult and I had a wide vocabulary. This is because I began reading from such a young age.My advice for you as English learners would be to read the books that you have often read in your own language in English. Reading, stories especially, is a great way of improving your vocabulary and spelling without noticing as you are lost in the story. For me, I have read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in French and am currently reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Spanish. This is a really useful way of being able to read in another language because I know the story so well in English, it is easy to follow the story in the foreign language even if I do not understand every word. This is another important point: it is not necessary to understand every word. If you understand the meaning of the sentence, each word is not necessarily important. Sometimes it is impossible to translate directly from one language to another. Quite often, if a word is used several times in a text, you can gain your own meaning from it and it makes much more sense than if you tried to translate it in the first place.Give it a try. If you like reading you could be opening up a whole new world of literature.28.What can we learn from the author's reading experiences?( )A.He often spent hours taking an adventure.B.He didn't like Harry Potter any more with aging.C.He could spare enough time reading for fun as a student.D.Reading helped him a lot since his early age.29.Which of the following can best replace the underlined word “relish” in Paragraph 1?( )A.Spend. B.Lose.C.Enjoy. D.Hate.30.What suggestion does the author give for learning English?( )A.Reading English stories you're familiar with in your own language.B.Reading Harry Potter in different languages.C.Translating word by word.D.Understanding the story in your own language.31.What can be the best title for the text?( )A.Better Ways to Read StoriesB.The Benefits of ReadingC.How to Improve Spelling and VocabularyD.Is It Necessary to Know Each Word DThe Bethel School District says a high school senior found himself in the position (位置) to do a heroic act because he had received a life-saving training—CPR.Two weeks ago, Tristan Baumann rushed to help a classmate. At the start of each school day, the Pierce County Skills Center is where you'll find Baumann. Our relationship had suffered because of this. When I got angry, it seemed like we would end up fighting with each other and not talk about what we were really feeling. Luckily, I have solved those problems now after we had a heart-to-heart “talk”.A while back I ran away from home so that I could be far enough away to cool down. I stayed away for many hours, well into the night, before I finally decided to return home. When I walked through the front door, I immediately saw all the pain, anger and disappointment on my parents' faces, especially my mother's. For days to come, my mom and I experienced a lot of suffering. Everything we did or said was filled with tension until we were unable to control our feelings. We knew we badly needed to have a talk. We agreed to have breakfast together the next morning. That morning will remain fresh in my memory forever. It was a turning point. We decided to go to a local café. On our way to the table, I noticed that my mother had two notebooks and some pens. I asked her what they were for. She explained to me that sometimes it was easier to write down our feelings rather than try to talk about them. She then handed me one notebook and she kept the other. The rules for that talk were that she would pick a topic, and we would write down our feelings, and then exchange our notebooks. It could be as long or as short as we wanted.注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。Our first topic was: “Why I am so angry.”________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________We exchanged our notebooks and read the words.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________单元素养评价(一) WELCOME UNIT(答案版)授课提示:对应综合自测卷1页(满分:150分)第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分)第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分)听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳选项,并标在试卷的相应位置。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。每段对话仅读一遍。1.What is the woman's plan for tonight?( )A.To visit a friend. It is expected that today's temperature could climb to as high as 38 ℃ by the late afternoon. Right now, only an hour after sunrise, the temperature in our city is already 29 ℃. Unfortunately, there is also no rain for the next five days. This is bad news for the thirsty forest in our city. Wednesday is forecast to be hotter, reaching 40 degrees with a surprising 28 ℃ overnight. It is the hottest August day since 30 ℃ in 2015. The good news is that it will be windy tonight. So it seems that setting up a tent in the backyard may be the only way to catch some sleep tonight if you don't have an air-conditioner. When you go out, please wear your hat and sunglasses. That's all for today's weather report. The traffic report in the morning is as follows. The climb-up is a real challenge, but seeing the sunrise from a sea of clouds at the top and taking in the wonderful views on the way down makes up for painful legs and knees.语篇解读 本文是一篇记叙文。作者分享了自己夜爬泰山,欣赏日出的所见所感。24.What did the author want to enjoy most at Mount Tai?( )A.The famous local tea.B.The ancient buildings.C.The impressive sunrise.D.The night view of the mountian.答案:C解析:细节理解题。根据第一段中的“As Mount Tai is famous for its sunrise, we really want to view the fantastic sunrise from the top”可知,作者很想在泰山顶上欣赏日出。25.What does the underlined word “strenuous” in Paragraph 2 mean?( )A.Lonely. If you like reading you could be opening up a whole new world of literature.语篇解读 本文是一篇夹叙夹议。作者通过自身经历, 论述了阅读的好处。28.What can we learn from the author's reading experiences?( )A.He often spent hours taking an adventure.B.He didn't like Harry Potter any more with aging.C.He could spare enough time reading for fun as a student.D.Reading helped him a lot since his early age.答案:D解析:细节理解题。根据第一段最后两句“(长大后, 我很快意识到拼写对我来说并不难, 而且我的词汇量也很广。这是因为我从小就开始读书。)”可知,从小开始阅读, 这给作者带来了很多帮助, 故选D。29.Which of the following can best replace the underlined word “relish” in Paragraph 1?( )A.Spend. B.Lose.C.Enjoy. D.Hate.答案:C解析:词义猜测题。根据第一段“Now, as a student, it is harder to find the time to read books for pleasure (现在, 作为一个学生, 很难找到时间来读书消遣)”可知,作者作为学生没有时间阅读来消遣, 结合下一句由however(然而)引导的对比关系, 可推知画线词所在句子意为: 我很享受夏天, 可以有时间看书来满足自己。由此可知, 画线词relish意为“喜欢, 享受”。30.What suggestion does the author give for learning English?( )A.Reading English stories you're familiar with in your own language.B.Reading Harry Potter in different languages.C.Translating word by word.D.Understanding the story in your own language.答案:A解析:细节理解题。根据第二段“My advice for you as English learners would be to read the books that you have often read in your own language in English. It could be as long or as short as we wanted.注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。Our first topic was: “Why I am so angry.”________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________We exchanged our notebooks and read the words.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________参考范文:Our first topic was: “Why I am so angry.” I wrote a half page, and my mom filled up nearly three pages. I watched tears roll down her face as she wrote. I never realized anyone could hide so much anger. It could have been because I never paid much attention to that, either. Sometimes we think we are the only ones with problems, but I was reminded that morning that other people can be hurting just as much.We exchanged our notebooks and read the words. As soon as I started reading my mother's words, I began to cry and so did she. Amazingly enough, it felt like all my anger slowly faded. Our talk helped me realize so many things I had never thought of before, not only about anger but also about love. We knew we loved each other dearly. Since then, our notebooks have been a safe place to express it. Now, we live a healthy life full of peace and love.【导语】 本篇文章以人物为线索。
