Some people remember their school days as the best time of their lives. For others, it was the worst. For Georgie, most of the time, yes, but there was one thing he didn’t like-- the school rules! Luckily that’s not a problem for students at the Bamboo School in Thailand because there, the children, not the teachers, make the rules.
Bamboo School, a unique school where the children call the shots-- they have the power to make the decisions. The idea behind the Bamboo School is simple: teaching children responsibility by letting them run their own school. The school doesn’t employ cooks, gardeners or cleaners- it’s all done by the students. Twice a week, children go to the vegetable market with a school worker and buy food for all 150 students.
The prices are then carefully checked by other students like Nooneem, who manages the food accounts. Nooneem spoke with a reporter, “I am interested in accounting, so I get excited by it. When I actually get to do it, I enjoy it a lot since we are doing the actual job. With this hands- on experience we see the school’s real spending and the Things we bought.”
The Bamboo School is a school for poorer children who can’t pay the money for learning but have to do something in return. This school has the environment at the heart of its mission, which means students at the school have to plant 800 trees a year! They’re also responsible for doing 400 hours of volunteer service each year.
Children at the Bamboo School get opportunities to try something new and different outside the classroom, increasing the chances that they’ll find something they’ re really good at. Of course, there are some adults-- every school needs teachers. But what’s special is how children are depended on, and react positively to that trust. So, just to be clear, it seems like the grown- ups are still in charge in the classrooms but outside it’s the kids who run stuff.

A young Dutch inventor is widening his effort to clean up floating(浮动的)plastic from the Pacific Ocean. He has developed a floating device to stop plastic waste moving into rivers before it reaches the oceans.
Boyan Slat was just 18 years old when he invented a system for catching waste in the ocean. He also founded an environmental group called The Ocean Cleanup. In 2019, Slat showed the next step: a floating device called Interceptor removes plastic out of rivers. The device is powered by energy from the sun. And three of the machines have already been used. Each machine costs about $775,600, but the cost might drop as production increases.
The device has a shaped nose to block away larger floating waste like tree trunks(树干). It works by guiding plastic waste into an opening in the front of the device. The waste is then carried inside the machine where it is dropped into containers. The device sends a text message to local operators that can come and clean it when it is full.
“It has been used for one and a half months in the river and it’s doing very well, collecting the plastic bottles and all the rubbish.” Slat told his supporters. But Slat’s organization has ever been criticized for focusing only on the plastic waste floating in the oceans. Experts say 9 million tons of plastic waste, including plastic bottles, bags, toys and other items, flows into the ocean from beaches, rivers, endangering marine life in the oceans, including whales.
“I want to solve them all in next five years. This is not going to be easy, but imagine if we do get this done, we’ll truly make our oceans clean again.” Slat said.
28. What can we know about Interceptor
A. It is mainly used in the oceans. B. It can help sort waste.
C. It needs solar power to work. D. It is being under test.
29. What is paragraph 3 mainly about
A. The effectiveness of the device. B. The function of the container.
C. The critical role of the shaped nose. D. The working theory of the device.
30. Why was Slat’s organization once criticized
A. It only did very well in the rivers.
B. It just focused on the waste in the oceans.
C. It put the ocean life in danger.
D. It only collected the plastic bottles and rubbish.
31. Which of the following words best describe Slat
A. Honest and devoted. B. Humorous and kind.

Be more productive. That is how ChatGPT from OpenAI sells itself to workers. But not everyone is on board. According to two studies, women use ChatGPT between 16% and 20% less than men fellows.
The first study investigated 100,000 people across 11 professions in which the technology could save Workers’ time. Across all professions, women were less likely to use ChatGPT than men. For example, among software developers, almost two- thirds of men used it while less than half of women did so on similar(相似的)tasks. The study also found that lacking of confidence, more women than men needed training to use technology.
Another study for the gender(性别)imbalance comes from an investigation of 486 students by Daniel Carvajal at the Norwegian School of Economics(NHH). It also found a gender gap: in the NHH’s only course, female students were 18% less likely to use ChatGPT often. When the researchers grouped students by admission grades, the gap existed in the behaviour of mid- and high- performing women. Low performers were almost as likely as men to use the technology.
Why The researchers probed the gap s with questions. They asked students whether they would still use ChatGPT if their professor does not allow it, and answers were similar. However, if agreed, everyone, including the high- performing women, reported that they would make use of the technology. In other words, the high- achieving women appeared to impose a limit on themselves. “It’s the’ good girl’ thing,” says a student. “It’s this idea that ‘I have to do it on my own and I shouldn’t deceive or take short- cuts’.”
Lacking of experience with AI could carry a cost when students enter job market as managers value high- performing women with AI knowledge 8% more than those without. This phenomenon does not exist for men, suggesting that there are awards for women who are willing to relax themselves on ChatGPT.
32. What can we know from paragraph two
A. Men tended to use less ChatGPT than women.
B. Women didn’t need training to use technology.
C. Women didn’t know how to use ChatGPT.
D. Women needed training to use technology.
33. What did Daniel Carvajal find in the second study
A. Low- achieving women were less likely to use AI.
B. High- achieving women were less likely to use Al.
C. Female students were more likely to use AI than male.
D. Both low- and high- achieving female liked to use AI.
34. What does the underlined word “impose” in paragraph 4mean
A. Force. B. Remove. C. Attack. D. Refuse.
35. What’s managers’ attitude to women with AI knowledge
A. Negative. B. Indifferent. C. Neutral. D. Positive.

There may come a time when someone requires your help for a mental health issue. 36 . But you may also struggle to know how to help in a way that assists with their immediate needs. If so, don’t worry. Try the following things to support those who needs you.
Listen
If someone approaches when they need help, it’s not always easy to know what you should do, and it may be more beneficial for you to just listen. 37 . They may just need to get what they are feeling off their chest at that moment. Try your best not to interrupt. The more listening you do, the better your position in deciding what to do next.
38
Even if you have undergone some related training, that doesn’t mean you are in the best position to offer the mental health support someone needs. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is encourage them to seek professional help. You may be able to provide phone numbers and even attend appointments with them if it makes them more comfortable.
Check in with them
While being a listening ear is sometimes all someone needs to feel better, you can also become an ongoing source of support. Check in with the person experiencing a mental health problem so that they know you are always there for them. Make contact with them regularly to see how they are feeling. 39 .
Call emergency services
40 . However, it’s important to know your limits. If someone you know is experiencing self- hurting thoughts or tendencies, don’t hesitate to seek emergency help. The faster you act, the safer your friend or family member may be.
A. Suggest support services
B. Provide effective support
C. You may be more than happy to help
D. Express your concern for them as fast as possible
E. Just knowing someone cares can bring them comfort

In other words ... ‘I have to do it on my own and I shouldn’t deceive or take short- cuts’可知表现好的女学生会在心里“强制实行”给自己一种限制,认为使用AI是欺骗或者走捷径的表现与她们自身对自我的高要求相违背,故选A“强迫”。
35.推理判断题,根据最后一段 as managers value … on ChatGPT.

56. to enjoy57. harvesting58. produced59. is called 60. mainly
61. changes 62. arrival 63. by 64. a 65. that
it’s time to do...
60. mainly
It is/ was… that…,故填 that.

An Unforgettable Trip
In this summer, my family and I went on a journey to Guilin, a city in southern China known for its impressive landscapes.
Upon our arrival, I was immediately attracted by the breathtaking Karst mountain s and the peaceful and clear Li River. Our adventure began with a boat trip along the river, where I was completely lost in the pleasant scenery. In addition to the boat journey, I also tasted local snacks, like Guilin rice noodles and oil tea. One of my favorites was the delicious beer fish, which also won high praise from other visitors.
What a wonderful trip! It not only broadened my horizons but also inspired my passion for exploring.
I spent that evening drawing. In the morning, I stuck my drawingbook into my backpack and ran to the school bus. When the last lesson bell rang, Kristie said goodbye to me. “I’m not going home yet,” I said. “I have something to show Ms. Carson.” After Ms. Carson saw my ideas, she talked to some other teachers. They liked my idea s too. And over the next weeks, a corner of the lunchroom was filled with cardboard and paints, with lots of kids painting.
Finally, opening night arrived. I sat next to Mom and Dad in the hall. When the curtain rose, everyone saw a magic al land with rolling hills, a fancy carriage, and a glittering castle. Kristie was a wonderful Cinderella, and everyone applauded when the play was over. Then Ms. Carson said into the microphone, “I’d like to thank the many students who painted the sets, especially Mary. Your effort and talent made tonight extra special.” Everyone applauded! I felt very proud---I did get a part in the play after all. And it was just as good as being Cinderella.
