afford sth. 负担得起某物
afford to do sth. 负担得起做某事
（1）买得起；付得起（钱）：
She can't afford a new coat. 她买不起一件新大衣。
We are not rich enough to afford a car.
我们并不太富有，不能购置汽车。
（2）担负得起（时间等）：
I feel I can' t afford any more time on this project.
我觉得我不能再在这个项目上花更多的时间。
deposit [d 'p z t] n.预付定金；押金
pay a deposit of +金额 "首付......"
I paid a deposit of 100,000 yuan to buy this car.我首付10万元买了这辆汽车。
You must pay a deposit if you want to reserve the room.
你要预订房间,就得先付定金。
instalment [ n'st lm nt] n.分期付款 =installment(美)
buy sth. on instalments：通过分期付款购买。
You can buy the computer on instalments .这电脑你可以分期付款买。

afford及物动词“(有财力)买得起,付得起“，常与can, could, be able to连用,且多用于疑问句或否定句中,表示“有能力负担”。后常跟名词、代词或动词不定式。
1). afford sth. 买得起某物”或“负担得起某物
Can we afford a new car 我们买得起一辆新车吗
The house is too expensive. I can't afford it. 这栋房子太贵了,我买不起。
2). afford to do sth. 负担得起做某事
I can't afford to visit Shanghai this summer.今年夏天我没有足够的钱去上海游玩。
I can't afford to waste any more time. 我再也浪费不起任何时间了。
I can’t afford to lose you. 我不能失去你。
I can't afford a new car. = I can't afford to buy a new car.
5. This model's less expensive than that one. 这种型号的比那种要便宜些。

仿造句：
Japanese is less interesting than maths. 日语没有数学有趣。

6. It's not as good as the expensive one. 它没有价钱高的那种好。
not as... as... 可以用来进行比较，意思是，放在前面的人或物在程度上低于后面的人或物。
7. The other's model's more expensive, but it's worth the money. 另一款型号更贵，但它值这么多钱。
worth用法
（1）相当于……价值，值……钱：
How much is this painting worth 这幅画值多少钱？
The ring is worth 1,000 dollars. 这戒指值一千美元。
（2）具有……价值；值得：
be worth sth./doing sth.
The museum is worth a visit. 这家博物馆值得参观。
That city is worth visiting. 那座城市值得一游。
Is the film worth seeing 这部电影值得一看吗？
8．Can we buy it on instalments 我们可以用分期付款的方式购买吗？
Millionaires don't buy things on instalments! 百万富翁是不会分期付款买东西的！
Buy sth. on instalments 以分期付款的方式购买
I bought this house on instalments last year. 我去年用分期付款的方式买了这所房子。
9. You can pay a deposit of thirty pounds , and then fourteen pounds a month for three years. 你可以先付30英镑定金，然后每月14英镑，3年付清。

then和fourteen之间省略了pay。

Lesson111-112 语法讲解
形容词或副词的平级比较级：as…as
形容词的比较形式有3种：较高比较(more expensive, the most expensive)；较低比较(less expensive, the least expensive) ；平级比较级(as expensive as)。
1). as ... as 与......一样
注意第一个as后面接的是形容词或副词的原级
as big as
as thin as
as beautiful as
as carefully as
as quickly as
Tom is as clever as Jerry. 汤姆和杰瑞一样聪明。
The green apple is as sweet as the red one. 这个绿苹果同那个红苹果一样甜。
The policeman is as tall as the policewoman.这个男警察与那个女警察个子一样高。
The white knife is as sharp as the black one.这把白色的小刀与那把黑色的小刀一样锋利。
2）.not as... as 不像......一样；不及
That book is not as cheap as this one. 那本书没有这本书便宜。
It's not as cold / hot as it was yesterday. 今天不像昨天那么冷/热。
