Lesson 107 单词讲解
1. madam ['m d m] n. 夫人；女士(对妇女的尊称）
This way please, madam. 这边请，夫人。

2.smart [smɑ t] adj. 时髦的；漂亮的；聪明的
It is a very smart dress. 这是一件非常漂亮的连衣裙。
3.as well [ z wel] 同样
四个“也”- also, too, as well, either 区别
1). also：用在句中，实义动词前，情态动词和be 动词后，较正式
She likes reading books. I also like reading books.
2). too：用在肯定句或疑问句末，比较口语
She likes reading books. I like reading books, too. 她喜欢读书。我也喜欢读书。
,3). as well：与“too”类似，通常用于句末。有时可以与“too”互换使用。
She can speak English. I can speak English as well.她会说英语。我也会说英语。
4). either：用于否定句的句末，表示“也不”的意思。
She doesn't like coffee. I don't like coffee either. 她不喜欢咖啡。我也不喜欢咖啡。
这个商店也卖婴儿食品。（三种表达方式）
The shop sells food for babies as well.
Theshop sells food for babies too.
The shopalso sells food for babies.
4. suit[su t] v. 适于
The coat doesn't suit you. 这件外衣不太适合你。
This dress suits you well. 这条裙子很适合你。
suitable 适宜的，合适的
5. pretty['pr ti] adj.漂亮的
Rachel is a very pretty woman, just like her mother.
瑞秋是一位很漂亮的女性,就像她的母亲一样。

madam 是对妇女的一种尊称，对于不知姓名的女士也可以用此来表示尊重。
2. It's too small for me. (这件衣服）对我来说太小了。

Would you like…？你愿意……吗？ 这个句型常用于表示委婉的请求或提议：
-Would you like to go with us 你乐意与我们一起去吗？
-Yes, I'd love to.
would like to do sth.= want to do sth. 想要做某事
would like sth.=want sth.想要某物
would like sb. to do sth. =wantsb. to do sth. 想要某人做某事
I would like to go for a walk after dinner. = I want to go for a walk after dinner.
晚饭后我想去散步。
He would like to watch the latest movie. = He wants to watch the latest movie.
他想看最新的电影。
I would like a cup of coffee, please. = I want a cup of coffee, please.
请给我一杯咖啡。
He would like a book about history. = He wants a book about history.
他想要一本关于历史的书。
She would like her son to become a doctor. = She wants her son to become a doctor.

5. I'm afraid this green dress is too small for me as well. 恐怕这件绿色的裙子我穿着也太小了。
as well，同时，也。通常用于句末。
He knows Spanish as well. 他还懂西班牙语。
too与 as well一般不用于否定句，否定句中用 either。
6. I don't like the color either. 我也不喜欢这种颜色。
either用在否定句句末
He doesn't like coffee either. 他也不喜欢咖啡。
7. I doesn't suit me at all. （这颜色）根本不适合我。
This job doesn't suit me very well.
这份工作不太适合我。
at all 完全；根本
I don't like it at all. 我一点也不喜欢它。
8.I think the blue dress is prettier. 我认为那件蓝色的更漂亮些。
在英文中，当我们把一个人或物与另一个人或物进行比较时，就要用形容词的比较级。
pretty-prettier（比较级）-the prettiest （最高级）
如果在句子中提到了对比的双方，就必须在比较级后面加上 than, 如 It's smaller than the blue one.
如果形容词比较级所指很清楚，比较级也可以独立存在。如， I haven't got a larger dress.
9. Could you show me another blue dress 你能再给我看一件蓝色的吗？
could是 can 的过去式
Could you…？您能……吗？ 用于表示请求，比 Can you…？更加婉转客气：
Could you tell me the way to the post office 您能告诉我去邮局怎么走吗？
Could you give me a hand 你能帮我一下吗？
another 另一的；再一个的
Will you like another cup of tea
你要再来一杯茶吗？
Why not stay here for another three days 为什么不再在这里待三天呢？
10. I want a dress like that one, but it must be my size. 我想要一件和那件一样的，但必须是我的尺寸。
like that one，像那件那样的。
是介词短语，作定语，修饰dress。
Do you like a girl like her 你喜欢像她这样的女孩吗？

形容词的比较级和最高级
（1）构成
A 大多数单音节形容词的比较级和最高级的构成是在其原级后面加上-er和-est：
small----smaller----smallest new----newer----newest
B 许多单音节形容词只有一个元音字母，其末尾为一辅音字母。在比较级和最高级形式中，这个辅音字母要双写：
big----bigger----biggest thin----thinner----thinnest
C 许多单音节形容词以-e结尾，如 nice。这些形容词只需在原级形式后加-r和-st：
large----larger----largest nice----nicer----nicest
D 有些形容词以-y结尾，而在-y前是一个辅音字母。这些形容词一般有两个音节。变为比较级和最高级时，-y要变成-i，末尾再加-er和-est：
easy----easier----easiest heavy----heavier----heaviest
E 但有少数形容词的比较级和最高级是不规则的，必须熟记，如：
good----better----best bad----worse----worst
F 大多数较长的形容词（即有两个以上音节的词）可与more连用构成其比较级形式，与most连用构成其最高级形式。

（2）用法
比较级：比较级只用于两者之间，通常与than连用。形容词比较级之所指假如很清楚，它也可独立存在：
This coat is longer. 这件外衣较长。
My hair is shorter than yours.
我的头发比你的短。
The new car is faster than the old one.
这辆新车比旧车快。
They are stronger than us. 他们比我们壮。
She is prettier than before. 她比以前更漂亮了。
最高级：最高级用于3者或3者以上。形容词的最高级在使用时必须加定冠词，并常伴有一个表示范围的介词短语或从句。
1). 一般用介词in 或of 等构成的短语来表示“比较的范围”，如： in the class, of the five
That girl is the tallest student in our class. 那位姑娘是班上个子最高的学生。
Lucy is the shortest of the three. 露西是3个人中最矮的。
My father is the tallest in my family. 我爸爸是我家里最高的。
2). 还可以用 I've ever met/seen/done...来表达范围
This is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.这是我见过的最漂亮的女孩。
This is the craziest thing I've ever done. 这是我做过的最疯狂的事。
This is the most beautiful place I have ever been to.这是我去过的最美丽的地方
