I was driving home the other day on a sunny afternoon. I had a smile on my face as I sang along to the songs on the radio. It was such a beautiful day that I felt full of happiness. My good mood ended, however, when the radio station took a news break between songs. Then suddenly I found myself listening to yet another story of a rich famous man who had broken the law. I shook my head as I came to a red traffic light.
As I pulled to a stop I noticed four leather jacketed bikers. They were standing in the middle of the road with two on either side of the light. They looked rough and dangerous, but as I got closer I noticed each one was holding their helmet in their hands. I rolled down my window as one approached my car. “We are the Brother of the Wheel，” he said. “We are collecting money for Christmas Toy Drive for needy children.” As I pulled a dollar out of my wallet I looked past his beard and into his eyes. They shined with goodness and kindness that came right from his soul. I dropped the money in his helmet and waved to the other bikers as I drove off. My good mood had returned. My faith in mankind had been bolstered. And I remembered once again never to judge people by their appearance.
Our society often judges books by their covers but God reads what is written in our hearts and souls. Perhaps one day we will all learn to see the world through the same eyes. Perhaps one day we will realize that looks matter little and actions matter much.

Made-in-China products have made their mark during the Paris Olympics. According to the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee.80 percent of the Phryges, the mascots (吉祥物) of the Games, are produced in China. Chinese producers are also controlling the market for sports products such as cheering sticks and fan scarves.
The high quality (质量) of made-in-China products received an unexpected praise from a Western reporter covering the Games. HEYTEA, a leading brand of Chinese new-style tea, made its Paris first appearance with a pop-up store designed as a traditional tea house. The store worked mainly to make Chinese tea culture known through creative tea drinks. China’s fashionable toy maker Pop Mart opened a store by the famous Louvre Museum to share art and fun. “The Olympics is a good chance to show ourselves to the world.” said Gu Yujia, vice president of HEYTEA．“The sales are good and the buyers really like us.”
Chinese local governments are also strengthening their city-branding efforts this year, which marks the 60th year of the building of diplomatic (外交的) relations between China and France, as well as the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism.

Science experiments don’t always go as planned, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn from them. Recently, Australian scientists learned something unexpected about magpies(喜鹊) when they tried to put trackers(跟踪仪) on them to learn more about their habits.
The birds the scientists hoped to study were Australian magpies. They are known to be quite clever. They live in groups of up to 12 birds and work together to protect the area they live in.
The researchers wished to try a new tracker on the magpies. They hoped to learn more about how far the birds fly and what they do during a normal day. The scientists are concerned that magpies may have a hard time adjusting(适应) to the environment as the world warms up because of climate(气候) change.
To keep the trackers on the birds without causing flying problems, the researchers developed a special harness, by which they can fix trackers to magpies. It was tough, so it wouldn’t come off by accident.
There was just one problem — the birds didn’t like the trackers. The researchers placed trackers on five magpies using their special harnesses. But just ten minutes after setting up the last magpie, they noticed something unusual: An adult female magpie was helping another magpie get free from its harness.
In a few hours, most of the other magpies had also been freed from their harnesses. By the third day, none of the birds had trackers anymore. “The birds are much cleverer than we thought,” said Dominique Potvin, one of the scientists.
The scientists were disappointed about the trackers, but they realized that the magpies had taught them something else: Magpies are able and willing to help each other out, even if the bird who is helping gets nothing from others.
This is called “rescue behavior”, and it’s not that common in the animal world, especially among birds. The researchers are glad they’ve learned about the rescue behavior of magpies. But now they need to think about a good way to track these clever birds.
