The reading text is “A game for the world ”. This text is an essay and the text analyzes the reasons for the popularity of football around the world. Through the study, students find out why football is popular in the world and think about which sports are as popular as football in China, guiding students to increase their awareness of different cultures.Analysis of StudentsAfter a semester of study in the senior year, students have acquired some basic language knowledge and skills and they are capable of developing some detailed information about the text. This article is about football, which is relevant to students' lives. It is easy to stimulate students' interest in reading. However, students have less knowledge of traditional Chinese sports and foreign sports. Lead in (4 mins) Ask students two questions. Q1: Do you like sport of football Q2: What do you know about football Think and answer the teacher’s question. Introduce students to the text and stimulate their interest in reading.Step2. Pre-reading (5mins) Show the picture of Activity 1 on page 26 and ask students to think about the questions "Think about what do you think these things represent in a football game ". Present a video about the terms related to the game of football. Talk and answer the questions. 2) Watch the video and learn more about the terms related to the game of football. Introduce the content of the article to stimulate students' interest in reading. Stimulate students' existing knowledge background and build relevant background knowledge for the study of the article.Step3. While-reading (18 mins) Activity 1: Fast-reading Instruct students to read quickly and find out the main idea of the article.
