①What is a robot club and who is our leader
It’s a club for students to build (搭建) robots together and play games with them. Mr. Thomas is our club leader. He thinks of things for us to do and helps us build our robots. He’s really cool and very kind. He loves everything about computers, but he is our music teacher!
②How can the club help us with other subjects
Building robots is fun. It makes us want to learn. It lets us do one thing for a long time. And that’s very important in subjects like science and math. It helps us to learn those subjects well.
③We often build our own robots, and we use the computer to let them sing, dance and move. We sometimes watch other robots on the Internet and learn from them (比赛) every year. From that, we learn new things and make our robots better.
④What do our club members say about the club
Ryan: It is fun to be in a competition. I’m really happy when we show our robots to students from other schools. We don’t always win, but that’s not important. Those students like watching our robots move. It feels great.

III. Listen to the passage and tell whether the following statements are true or false.
In some German cities, parents like their children to buy fresh vegetables in the gardens for the family, but these gardens are not the common ones. They are called moral vegetable gardens. Children go there to buy what they want. Each time they only need some one-Euro coins because the vegetables there are cheap.
These gardens are built between buildings or on the top of the buildings. In the gardens, some fresh vegetables are grown by adults but some vegetables are just bought from the market and are stuck in the soil. There are no people selling vegetables. There is only a board with prices beside each kind of vegetable, so children can get the vegetables they want by themselves and put the money in the box there. It's just like the fare box on the bus where people put money when getting on the bus. It's said that the vegetables there haven't been stolen so far.
By buying vegetables in this kind of garden, on the one hand, children can learn more about how vegetables are grown and be more interested in nature. On the other hand, this can teach children to be honest from a young age.
IV. Listen to the dialogue and fill in the blanks.
Mike: Laura, why is there such a big crowd
Laura: I think they are volunteers, Mike. Next Wednesday there will be a school sale.
Mike: What will the volunteers do
Laura: They will go to people's houses and collect things for the sale. They will help sell the things on the school sale day.
Mike : How will the money from the sale be used
Laura: The school will use the money to pay for all the after-school sports and art lessons it offers.
Mike : Glad to hear that the money is used for good purposes. It seems that people here love to do volunteer work.
Laura : Volunteering to help others is a tradition for the people here. Most people volunteer about three hours and a half each week.
Mike: What do these volunteers do
Laura: All kinds of work, some help kids with writing or science subjects. Others work at animal homes. There they play with the cats or take the dogs for walks. Sometimes they clean up parks and spend time in hospitals.
Mike : Maybe I should be a volunteer, too.
Laura: It will be a great experience for you during your stay here.
