Teaching Procedures Step 1: Warming-up (3 minutes) 1. Greet the students and have a free talk about their weekends. T: How was your weekend, boys and girls Ss: It was great/OK/... T: What did you do on the weekend Ss: I did my homework/played sports/... 2. Show some pictures of different activities and ask students to guess what they are. T: Look at this picture. What is the person doing Ss: He/She is reading a book. Step 2: Lead-in (3 minutes) 1. Present a timetable of Timo's school day and ask students to observe it. T: Here is Timo's school day. Let's have a look. What does he do in the morning Ss: He gets up at 7:00 and then has breakfast. 2. Ask students to compare Timo's school day with their own and think about the differences. T: How different is your school day from Timo's Think about it. Step 3: Task 1 - Complete the timetable (10 minutes) 1. Hand out the worksheets with the incomplete timetable to students. T: Now, it's your turn to complete the timetable about your school day. Remember to write down the time and activities clearly. 2. Students work individually to fill in the timetable. 3. Walk around the classroom and offer help if necessary. Step 4: Pair Work - Share and Compare (7 minutes) 1. Ask students to pair up and share their timetables with each other. T: Now, talk to your partner and share your timetables. Find out the similarities and differences. 2. Invite several pairs to come to the front and present their comparisons to the class. S1: My partner gets up earlier than me. I get up at 7:30, but he/she gets up at 7:00. S2: We both have lunch at 12:00, but I have math class in the afternoon and she has English class. Step 5: Reading and Analyzing the Model Passage (5 minutes) 1. Project the model passage on the screen. T: Look at this passage. It's about a student's day. Let's read it together and see how it's organized. 2. Read the passage aloud with the students and analyze the structure and language. T: What does the writer start with Ss: The writer starts with introducing himself/herself. T: How does the writer describe the activities Ss: The writer uses simple present tense and time expressions. Step 6: Task 2 - Writing (10 minutes) 1. Ask students to use the information in their timetables to write about their own days. T: Now, it's time to write. Use the model passage as a guide and write about your day. 2. Remind students to pay attention to grammar, spelling and punctuation. Step 7: Presentation and Feedback (5 minutes) 1. Invite some students to come to the front and read their passages aloud. 2. The other students listen carefully and give comments and suggestions. T: What do you think of his/her passage Is it clear and interesting Ss: I think it's very good. The time expressions are correct. Ss: Maybe he/she can add more details. 3. Provide positive feedback and correct the mistakes if any. Step 8: Summary and Homework (2 minutes) 1. Summarize the key points of this lesson. T: Today, we talked about our school days and learned how to describe them in English. Remember to use the correct language and be organized. 2.
