Lesson 18 Dreams
Ⅰ. Text Analysis
What: Lesson 18 Dreams is the third lesson in unit 6 The Unexplained. This unit revolves around the supernatural abilities of some animals and humans and some magical events that happen. This topic is a common topic in People's Daily life and a hot topic of communication between teachers and students in class.
Why: Through the study of this lesson, students can understand the scientific knowledge of dreaming, and can simply describe their dreams.
How: This lesson is a listening and speaking class. The listening material is mainly about the interview dialogue between the host and the doctor who talks about the phenomena of dreams and some unsolved mysteries, mainly including who dreams, why dreams and what dreams happen.
Ⅱ. Analysis of Students
Eight grade students already have the basic knowledge and skills, and it lays the foundation for the study of this lesson. Students at this stage have certain cognitive and language abilities, so they need to further lay a solid foundation and improve their learning ability. However, there are great differences in students' learning. For students with strong learning ability, some activities that require high listening and language expression ability can be designed to guide them to actively cooperate in group activities, help each other and complete the learning task together. The requirements for students with poor learning ability should be lowered, so that they can form interactive groups with students with good foundation, and develop the habit of self-study, so that they can make progress in learning.
Ⅲ. Teaching Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to
Listen, read and write the words about dreams. Through listening, find out and summarize the reasons for people to dream and dream content, and understand the scientific knowledge of dreaming.
Use what they have learned in this lesson to express their dreams.
Treat dreams correctly and develop an interest in exploring the mysteries.

Ⅴ. Teaching Procedures
Step 1. Pre-listening
Look at the pictures. What’s the girl dreaming about
(Justification: Answer the questions by looking at the pictures, introduce the topic of this lesson, and stimulate students' interest in learning.)

(Justification: Brainstorm, activate existing vocabulary, and learn new vocabulary.)
Step 2. While-listening
1st listening
Listen to the dialogue. What kind of conversation is it

2nd listening
Listen again and circle the true sentences.

Listen and circle the common dreams according to the dialogue.

Step 3. Post-listening
Listen and read the dialogue after the recording.
(Justification: Read the text and imitate the pronunciation and intonation.)
Look at the blackboard. Ask and answer in pairs and talk about dreams.

Step 4. Pairs work
Role-play
Suppose one student is a journalist and the other is the scientist. Ask the students to work in pairs and make a dialogue.
