第二节(满分 25分)(One possible version)
Noticing his obvious discouragement, Mary asked, “Son, why do you look so sad ” Bob
hesitated for a moment and then replied with a sigh that he had an important interview at Zane
Law Company but the heavy rain destroyed his last hope. Mary listened quietly, sensing his regret
at the lost opportunity. She patted him on the shoulder and said, “Don’t worry. You are a nice man.
You’ve shown kindness today, and I believe it’ll come back to you in some way.” Her eyes,
though clouded with age, held a warmth that cut through the gloominess around them. Hearing her
encouraging words, he brightened up.
About ten minutes later, Mary saw David rushing towards them. “Grandma, it’s a
horrible storm! I’m so worried about you!” David cried out, a sense of relief washing over him. At
the same time he noticed Bob supporting her. Then he was told about Bob’s timely help on the
way to the interview at Zane Law Company. David extended a hand, his voice filled with gratitude.
“Thank you. I’m impressed with your selflessness. You’re exactly the kind of person we’re
looking for. Would you be available for an interview later today ” Bob’s face lit up with surprise.
At that moment, he realized kindness always pays off. Helping others might lead to unexpected
rewards and that’s a valuable lesson for life.

you must keep that in mind with every word and sentence you write. Constantly ask yourself
who you really write the information for. Lastly, write for the ear, not for the eye. Once you’ve
finished a draft of your writing, read it out loud. You’ll hear something that sounds awkward.

Cesare Mencarini recently graduated from high school in England with excellent grades. But he was probably more excited about the success he had the previous year-building a working nuclear fusion reactor(核聚变反应堆)at the age of 16.
Fusion energy is created when hydrogen atoms “fuse”(融合)together. Many people see fusion energy as the perfect energy for the future. The fuel(燃料)needed for fusion reactions is cheap, and there's plenty of it. Fusion could easily provide energy with very little pollution.
As a child, Cesare became interested in electronics, and learned to program computers. When he was in high school, after seeing a video about someone building a fusion reactor,Cesare decided he wanted to build one, too. Initially, the school wasn't so excited about the idea. But Cesare worked to persuade his teachers. Finally, after a complete safety review, and with an extra advisor offering to help out, the school agreed.
Cesare was a strong student, but what troubled him most was that his regular classes weren't teaching him how to build a fusion reactor. To learn this, he spent countless hours doing research, looking up information on the Internet, and watching videos. He also joined a website where he got advice from scientists with more experience.
Step by step, working long hours with his physics teacher and his advisor, Cesare built the reactor and finished it last June. Over a year has passed since then. Cesare has continued to improve the reactor by trial and error.
He's one of the youngest students to have built such an advanced fusion reactor. But for Cesare, it wasn't just about the reactor. It was also about learning by doing, and about making connections with other people doing similar things. No matter which college he goes to,he'll probably continue to change people's ideas about how much young people can achieve.
24.What do we know about fusion energy
A.It costs a lot to produce. B. It's rarely available.
C.It fully solves energy shortage. D.It's environmentally friendly.

With millions of riders on the road, China's food delivery industry has long prided itself on being able to reach every corner of the country. Now, Meituan is even offering to deliver takeout to the Great Wall-dropped off not by a worker on an electric bike, but by a drone(无人机)sliding from the sky.
For the millions of tourists who visit the Great Wall each year, the drone delivery service offers a new level of convenience. Visitors can now order meals and drinks via their smartphones, with drones delivering their orders to their locations on the wall, which eliminates the need for tourists to leave their spots, allowing them to fully engage in the experience of visiting the Great Wall without interruptions.
The Great Wall drone route extends from a nearby hotel rooftop to a watchtower on the southern part of Badaling,an area previously free of commercial(商业的)facilities.“That's where drones can help," Yan Yan, public affairs director of Meituan's drone business, told CCTV.“Through drones, we can make trips that take 50 minutes on foot in five minutes and deliver heat relief objects and emergency supplies to visitors.”
Once an order is received, a Meituan worker will pick it up from a nearby store and bring it to the hotel rooftop, where it will be weighed and packaged. An operator then ties the package to the drone, which will fly on autopilot to the watchtower, where another worker waits to receive it and hands it over to the customer.
The company will initially offer free delivery while it tests the service, and claims that pricing will stay similar to that of regular deliveries afterward.
Meituan's drone delivery at the Great Wall is another example of how drone technology can be used for the last mile. The program could serve as a model for similar services in other tourist-heavy or geographically challenging locations worldwide and have a promising future.

World over, people are increasingly concerned about making dissertations(论文)useful in public health policy(政策)-making. Institutions of higher learning have produced numerous dissertations that will advance social services in society, including better-informed healthcare. However, there are hardly any reports linking production of dissertations by students at these institutions to their application in society. The researchers from Makerere University College of Health Sciences (MakCHS) studied whether and how their post-graduate students' dissertations were used in evidence-informed health policies (EIHP).
The researchers made a multiple-case study of master's students' dissertations at MakCHS produced between 1996 and 2020. They applied a theoretical structure and content analysis(分析)to map how dissertations were used in public policy documents. They sorted content of dissertations according to some health-related files like Millennium Development Goals.
Overall, the researchers found 16 cases of dissertation use in policy-related documents out of a total 1172 dissertations. They were mainly used instrumentally, to outline the problem (load of disease or health condition) and select a treatment option and rarely symbolically to justify strategies already selected. The majority of the cases of dissertation use solved child health, especially infectious diseases. A crucial observation was the use of unproved results to inform new directions in the policy-related documents. In one case of dissertation use, the findings did not reach statistical(统计学的)significance but were pooled to increase power and precision of the effect in the policy-related document.
There is evidence that the dissertations of post-graduate students at MakCHS are now being used in EIHP to a limited extent. The research results probably underrate the use of dissertations,as they don't include the dissertations that are not documented or are more difficult to identify.Future studies could employ approaches to study the local use of students' dissertations from MakCHS and other universities, as well as consider doctoral students' dissertations.

A.The poor quality of current public health services.
B.The financial unsustainability of research institutions.
C.The unreliability of post-graduate students' dissertations.

A. Methods of conducting the research.
B. Influences of health-related research.
C.Explanations of global health theories.
D.Achievements made by master's students.
34.What does policy-related dissertation use focus on
A. Accuracy of the adopted strategies.
B.Exclusion of the non-confirmatory results.
C. Importance of data collection and analysis.
D.Health issue overview and proper solutions.
35.What can we learn about the research concerning dissertation use
A. It overvalues the role of papers.
B. It doesn't record people's feedback.
C. It fails to cover all the forms of dissertations.
D.It's simply limited to the field of child development.

Bob had been jobless for the past few months, and his family could hardly make ends meet. But today it was his chance to turn a new page. Bob was waiting for the bus, ready to attend the interview at Zane Law Company with his only suit on. He knew all he had to do was pass the interview.
Suddenly big raindrops started falling from the sky. Bob looked up in sadness. People hurriedly sought for shelter. Giving up his initiaI plan of waiting for the bus, he followed them.Pushing his way through crowds of people, Bob ran to the nearest train station to shelter from the rain. "My previous plan didn't work, but perhaps I could still make it if I take the train,"he thought. An elderly lady accidentally knocked into him, causing the contents of his briefcase to fall out. "I'm sorry, I didn't..." she said. Bob cut her off, signing it was fine and hurriedly gathered his things. When he reached the platform, he was disappointed to see that notices had been put up everywhere informing of a ten-minute postponement.
What's worse, the floor was flooded. Panic broke out, followed by a disordered rush to the exits where a bottleneck had formed. As Bob made his way to the exit, he saw the elderly lady Mary who had knocked into him earlier. She was hobbling(蹒跚)among the crowds, holding her walking stick with her weak hands. Fear was written clearly on her face as she didn't see her grandson David who had promised to pick her up to visit his newly-established Zane Law Company. To make matters worse, her phone was out of power and couldn't reach David.
"Auntie, let me help you," Bob said and without waiting for a reply, he placed her hand on his right arm. After some time, they made it out of the flooded platform. Not wanting to leave Mary alone, he decided to stay with her. After all, there was no way he could make it for his interview now. He was sad at the thought of missing the interview.
