定语从句是指在复合句中用来修饰某一名词或代词的从句。定语从句通常位于它修饰的名词或代词之后,被修饰的名词或代词叫先行词。能引导定语从句的词,如that, which, who叫关系代词,且置于先行词和定语从句之间起联系作用,同时又是定语从句的一个成分。
例如: I like music [that I can dance to.]
She likes musicians [who play different kinds of music.]
解析:例句中,打括号的句子就是定语从句,music 和musicians 是被修饰的词,所以是先行词,that 和who是引导定语从句的关系代词。
探究四、观察例句,总结定语从句的用法。
