Each class has a piece of land to plant vegetables or keep animals. Students do farm work twice a week with the help of teachers. There is also a zoo in the school. It helps students get on with animals. The school has set up a greenhouse(温室) with fruit trees for students to learn about nature, instead of just listening to teachers in the classroom.

Wen Xionghui is a calligraphy (书法) teacher who works at Dongyuan Senior High School in Heyuan, Guangdong Province. Every Friday afternoon, he travels to rural (农村的) areas in Heyuan to teach students calligraphy.
Wen started working as a volunteer calligraphy teacher in rural schools in 2014. For eight years, he has taught in several schools. “It takes me at least 1.5 hours to reach the nearest school by bus, and over 3 hours to get to the farthest school,” Wen says. The journey is harder if there's bad weather, but Wen has never missed a class. “I'm glad when I see students make progress. I feel tired but happy,” he adds.
Most of Wen's students are left-behind children (留守儿童). Wen says that although rural children start to learn calligraphy later than children in cities, this doesn't mean that they aren't excellent students. In fact, he always finds students with a talent for art in rural schools, and some have become quite skilled because they keep practicing.
Wen not only teaches students calligraphy in rural areas, but also spreads a love of traditional art and culture. “Teaching art is really meaningful in rural areas because there aren't enough art teachers there,” Wen says.
Li Zhihong, an expert in calligraphy, thinks that Wen has set a good example for his students. “He has taught them that learning calligraphy requires perseverance (毅力), just as what he has worked hard with for years,” Li says.

It is common to surf the Internet at home now. However, a recent survey showed over 90% of parents are not clear what websites their children visit. I strongly believe that a training project should be started to help parents to improve their internet and computer skills. Then they can better manage and guide their children.
Providing training would get parents to pay more attention to their children's online activities. This is one advantage. If parents had a better understanding of the internet and websites, they would see the need to make sure that their children use it properly and responsibly.
Providing training to parents would allow parents to help their children with their schoolwork as well. These days, some homework of online courses needs to be done on computer. If parents have poor computer skills, they will be of little or no help with the homework. That can make parents very upset. Some people argue that it is good that students can work independently on computers. However, it is clear that students, especially young students often need this kind of home support.
Improving parents’ Internet and computer skills might also be a good way for parents to improve their relationships with their children. These days, children spend a lot of their free time on computers. If parents want to be part of their free time, they need to see that playing on computers can be a fun family activity. Joining their children can help parents bridge the gap between them and their children.
Most people believe that children need to be helped and guided to use the Internet in a proper and responsible way. Therefore, training is really important.

第三节 书面表达(满分30分)
Dear Billy,
I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble getting used to life in middle school. In your letter you said that you always felt lonely because of having few friends. I think it is a good choice to join some clubs in your school. In this way, you can make more friends who share the same interest with you. Besides, you’d better be friendly to others. Smile at others and you are sure to get a smile in return. On the other hand, you found it difficult to remember English words. It’s a good idea to help you learn English words by reading more English stories and news. In addition, if you can develop a habit of keeping an English diary everyday, it will be easier for you to remember more words. What’s more, you told me that you used to have little homework, but now there is more and more of it. And you are not allowed to watch TV by your parents. Why don’t you try to communicate with your parents Just let them know that you can plan your time wisely and get good scores in study.
I hope you will find these suggestions useful. Good luck with everything!
Mary
