Bassanio looked at the three boxes, but he did not read the writing on them. He looked at the gold and silver.
“The world is tricked by appearances,” he said. “People often hide ordinary things with beautiful gold, silver, and jewels. When you find math hard, you usually ask teachers or parents for help. But now, doctors can help you too!
On Oct 8, Shanghai opened a special clinic (门诊) for children who have problems with math and spatial (空间的) understanding. On that day, six students went there with their parents.
At the clinic, doctors checked how well the students understood math and their spatial skills, and then made plans to help them learn better. They even had special educational games with VR and AR technologies to help students.
A recent study found that about 8.97 percent of children at primary school on the Chinese mainland (中国大陆) have trouble with math and spatial skills, reported Shanghai Daily. Among them, 11.57 percent are in low grades, 10.07 percent are in middle grades and 4.76 percent are in high grades.
The clinic is open every Tuesday. It’s very popular with days getting fully booked.
Special clinics for helping with learning problems are becoming common in China, especially in big cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, and Nanjing.
However, experts remind parents that these clinics may help students, but they can’t magically (神奇地) turn them into top students. It’s more important to have realistic (实际的) expectations.
Shi Ping from Tianjin Children’s Hospital told China Daily that putting too much pressure on kids can sometimes make learning harder. Parents should think about how they teach their kids and consider making some changes.
After all, just as an expert said, “Doing well in school shouldn’t be the only thing that matters in a child’s life.”

Mark Twain once said everybody talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it. This was true in his day. But it may not be the case in today’s world. In fact, humans have found many different ways to control the weather.
Cloud seeding（云催化）is a kind of technology that can control rain. It is done by spreading chemicals, like dry ice or silver iodide（碘化银）inside of clouds, either by rocket or airline.This changes the amount of water inside the cloud, which helps to control the amount of rain, the time when it rains and even where it rains.
This technology has helped to solve droughts. It has also played a key role during important events. For example, China used cloud seeding in Beijing just before the 2018 Olympic Games in order to stop rain from falling during the event.
However, scientists are still debating how to use this technology. On one hand, it is believed that it might have side effects. For example, silver iodide may be bad for the environment. On the other hand, no two clouds are the same so every new experiment introduces new conditions.
In addition to controlling rain, scientists have also tried to find ways to weaken storms and hurricanes（飓风）. Scientists at the US National Hurricane Centre Headquarters think it might be possible to control hurricanes by using lasers（激光）.Others believe that burning petroleum（石油）in a hurricane’s path could slow the storms down.
