【教学过程】
Step 1 Lead-in
1. Greet students and ask about their daily routines at school.
2. Introduce the topic of favourite subjects and ask students to guess which subject the teach- er likes most.
Step 2 Work on 1a
1. Review the names of some subjects and teach some new names.
2. Display the pictures of different subjects on the screen. Ask students to match the subjects in the box with the pictures, individually or in pairs. Correct any mismatches and introduce any extra subjects.
Step 3 Work on lb & lc
1. Tell the class we will listen to two conversations. You will hear some subjects. Play the recording of the two conversations and ask students to tick the subjects Ella and Peter talk about.
2. Check the answers.
Ella: history, maths, art, geography;
Peter: Chinese, maths, IT, PE.
3. Play the recording again and ask students to circle the coloured words they hear.
4. Check answers and discuss the language points used in the conversations.
The answers are:
(1) Ella doesn't like history because it's hard.
(2) Ella's favourite subject is maths because it's fun.
(3) Peter doesn't like maths because it's boring.
(4) Peter's favourite subject is PE because it's exciting.

Step 4 Work on ld
1. Ask students to think about their favourite subject and why they like it.
2. Model the conversation using the target language: “What's your favourite subject My favourite subject is... Why do you like ... Because it's ...” Encourage students to practice the conversation in pairs or small groups.
3. Invite several pairs to share their conversations with the class.
Step 5 Work on Pronunciation 1
1. Explain the importance of correct pronunciation in English learning. Introduce how to pro- nounce the vowels/e /,/a /,/ /,/ /,/a /,/ /,/e /,/ /.
2. Play the recording of the pronunciation practice and ask students to listen and repeat.
3. Ask several students to read the pronunciation in Pronunciation 1. Correct their mistakes if exists.
Step 6 Work on Pronunciation 2
1. Point out the linking of words and the placement of stress. Have students read the sen- tences aloud, focusing on the correct pronunciation.
2. Play the recording and ask students to listen and repeat the sentences.
3. Play the recording again. Let students repeat them. Ask several students to read the sen- tences in Pronunciation 2 in class.
Step 7 Summary and Homework
Summarize the key points learned in this lesson.
Assign homework: Ask students to write a short paragraph about their favourite subjects and why they like them, using the target language.

1. Look at the picture in 2a. Talk about it.
2. Present the listening task and ask students to predict what they might hear.
3. Play the recording and ask students to fill in the blanks. Check answers and discuss the language points used in the conversation. The answers are: interesting; useful; difficult.
Step 3 Work on 2b
1. Ask students to read the conversation silently and then complete the table.
2. Check answers and clarify any misunderstandings. The answers are:
Emma: History— It's interesting to learn about the past.
Binbin: Maths— He's good with numbers.
Meimei: English— It's useful.
Step 4 Work on 2c
1. Listen to the conversation again and pay attention to the words that link together.
2. Model the pronunciation and ask students to repeat after the teacher.
3. Practise reading the conversation.

4. Pair students up and ask them to role-play the conversation, paying attention to the pro- nunciation and intonation.
Step 5 Work on 2d
Divide students into groups and ask them to discuss and categorize their school subjects based on their preferences. Encourage students to use the target language to justify their group- ings.
Step 6 Work on 2e & 2f
1. Explain the interview task and demonstrate how to take notes.
2. Pair students up and ask them to interview each other using the questions provided.

Step 1 Lead-in
1. Greet students and ask about their daily activities.
2. Review the previous lessons by asking students to talk about their favourite subjects and why.
Step 2 Work on 3a
1. Introduce the topic of using connectives( and, but, because) to connect ideas. Explain the meaning and usage of each connective with examples.
I like English and math. (我喜欢英语和数学。)
I like science, but I don't like history. (我喜欢科学,但我不喜欢历史。)
I like PE because it's fun. (我喜欢体育,因为它很有趣。)
2. Display the incomplete sentences from 3a on the board. Ask students to read the sen- tences and complete them with the correct connectives.
3. Check answers and discuss the reasons for using each connective. The answers are: We use“because” to give a reason. We use“and” to give another idea. We use“but” to give two different ideas.
Step 3 Work on 3b
1. Display the sentences from 3b on the screen.
2. Pair students up and ask them to match the two parts to make complete sentences. En- courage students to discuss their matches with their partners.
3. Collect some pairs and share with the class, discussing the use of connectives.
Step 4 Work on 3c
1. Display the incomplete passage from 3c on the board.
2. Ask students to read the passage and fill in the blanks with the appropriate connectives.
3. Ask students to read the completed passage aloud to check for coherence. The answers are: because; and; and; but; and; but; because.
Step 5 Work on 3d
1. Explain the survey questions to students and demonstrate how to conduct a survey.
2. Ask students to conduct a survey in pairs, collecting information about their classmates’ favourite school days, subjects, and reasons. Encourage students to use the connectives they have learned to record their findings.

1. Reading Material Introduction:
Explain that students will be reading a message board with two posts, one from Mike Davis in Canada and another from Wu Binbin in China. They will learn about the subjects each student studies and their favourite subjects.
2. Language Points:
Highlight new vocabulary such as“schedule”“favourite subject”“make sb. happy”“work out”“useful” etc.
Explain the structure and function of“I want to be...” to express future aspirations.
Point out the use of“because” to give reasons for preferences.
3. Reading Activity:
Ask students to read the message board about Mike and Wu Binbin's favourite subjects in1b.
Ask students to underline all the school subjects mentioned by each student.
Guide students to notice the differences and similarities in the subjects studied by the two students.
Step 4 Work on 1c
1. Discussion and Completion of Table:
Discuss with students the reasons why Mike and Wu Binbin like their favourite subjects.
2. Ask students to read the posts again and complete the table in 1c with favourite subject, and reason. Encourage students to use the language points they have learned to fill out the table.

Step 5 Work on 1d
Ask students to work in pairs and discuss the questions in 1d. Encourage students to share their answers with the class.
