children even played hide-and-scek(躲猫猫) in my hair.
One day, the king said to me, "Gulliver, I invite you to
watch an important performance. It is a competition called
Rope Dancing." In the contest, a thin rope was tied very
high above the ground. People had to dance on this rope.
Each dancer tried to jump higher than the others. I had never
seen such a dangerous sport.
"Many dancers must fall and get hurt or killed," I said.
“Yes,”he replied. "But I will give the best jobs in my kingdom to the men who are not afraid
and jump the highest.”
“What a strange way to choose who will work for the country!" I thought.
Then, as the king watched, I tied each corner of my handkerchief(手绢) to a strong stick, and
pushed the four sticks into the ground. My handkerchief was now under the rope but above the
ground. Any dancer who fell would land on the handkerchief and not get hurt. The king was very
happy about this. His family and many other people watched the rope dancing.
“Would you and the queen like to see better ” I asked the king. I put them on my hand and held
my hand beside the rope. They had a good view of the dancers. One very excellent performer held
on to the rope and flipped (翻转) his body right over it. The king and the queen cheered loudly. Later
the king told me that he made this man one of his chief (首要的) advisers.

Imagine taking a flying taxi to the airport, or jumping
over crowded city streets at rush hours, getting where you
want to go much faster than you could in a car. Believe it or
not, you might be able to do these things in an air taxi
sooner than you think.
An air taxi is something like a helicopter(直升飞机). It
can carry people from place to place. Air taxis don't need a
long runway like planes do.They can go straight up and
down.
5
{#{QQABBYYUogggABIAAAgCUQUiCkEQkhGACQgOhEAIsAABSBFABAA=}#}
In June, the American government agreed to allow a company called Joby Aviation to start
testing their new air taxi. This is the first time they test a taxi built in a factory. Before that, all their
taxis were made by hand.
By 2025, Joby hopes to start carrying people for money. In order to create a program to fly
people from their homes to the airport, Joby chose to work with Delta Air Lines. Joby's air taxis will
be flown by a pilot, and can carry four other passengers. They can go about 100 miles before
recharging(充电).
Compared with helicopters(直升飞机 ), the air taxis are quieter and cheaper. The company
expects to charge about $3 a mile at first. But over time, they hope to bring the price down to less
than $1 a mile.
And as exciting as the idea of flying taxis is, some people have concerns about them. The air
taxis may be quieter than helicopters, but they'll add noise and traffic to our skies. Some people
worry that only rich people will be able to use them.
It seems that air taxis will be part of the future of travel. But there's still a lot to do before air
taxis become common.
52. How does the writer begin the passage
A. By raising a question. B. By imagining a scene.
C. By presenting a picture. D. By making a comparison.
53. Which of the following is TRUE about Joby's new air taxi

C. The traffic rules to be made soon. D.The high price of taking the new air taxi.
55. What is the best title for this passage
