What Does a Content Creator Do
Content creation is a complex and multi-layered process involving several distinct but interrelated tasks.
1.Industry Research
Good content provides value to the audience, which requires in-depth industry research. This is especially true when considering how much new content is posted daily.
2.Topic/Keyword Research
Creating great content is of little value if it isn’t discovered. This is where search engine optimization(SEO)comes in.Whether creating blog posts or making YouTube videos, creators need to know:
Keyword research helps content creators find keywords and topics in high demand while also letting them know how much competition they can expect when creating keyword-specific content.
Tools such as Ahrefs,Semrush, and Google Trends can identify search volume, search difficulty and other search-related metrics(指标)before valuable time and resources are used to create content that is unproven.
3.Creation
Prepare a Brief or Outline
Whether creating the content directly or outsourcing it to other creators,it’s always a good idea to have a brief or outline before the work begins.
Create the First Drafts
First drafts can be rough and messy, and worrying about getting everything right at this stage can be counterproductive(适得其反的).Leave the polishing to the next step.
Editing
This is an essential step.Irrespective of whether it’s a blog post, vlog or Instagram post,it’s crucial to revise and edit the first draft before posting.
Publish and Monitor
Next,it’s time to publish the content.Once it goes live, however,it’s important to monitor its performance to troubleshoot potential technical or content-related issues.
4.Promotion
Once content creators have published their work, they need to promote it.Without promotion, content is far less likely to have similar levels of visibility, while the creator won’t generate as much brand authority.
21.What is the primary purpose of conducting industry research
A.To increase the competition in the industry.
B.To make the content creation process faster.
C.To identify the most popular topics on social media.
D.To ensure the content provides value to the audience.
22.What is the recommended approach for creating the first draft of content
A.Getting everything right from the start.
B.Focusing on the creation first, and polish it later.
C.Using SEO tools to better the first drafts.
D.Publishing the first draft without editing.
23.Why is promotion essential for content creators after publishing their work
A.To ensure all content is edited perfectly.
B.To replace the need for keyword research.
C.To avoid technical issues with the content.
D.To increase the chance of visibility and brand authority.

While other artists might use watercolours or oil paints,Mbongeni Buthelezi uses waste plastics to create portraits(肖像)at his studio in Booysens,Johannesburg. His medium is the plastic litter he collects from local rubbish ground and city streets.
An artist and activist,Buthelezi,56,first found his talent for the creative as a boy in rural KwaZulu-Natal,South Africa. He sculpted clay figurines(小雕像)of the animals around his village:cows, horses and goats.
He explained that plastic litter was so common in his hometown that it became an unwelcome part of the cows’ regular diet.“We would see these cows die because they had eaten plastics,” Buthelezi said.
With plastic waste growing around the world,Buthelezi is using his work to both highlight and deal with the issue.Buthelezi’s use of waste wasn’t always in defense of the environment;he first began using plastic litter for his art because he couldn’t afford more traditional mediums.
At 22,he studied at a community arts school. He took with him just two blankets, very little money, and a lot of optimism. There he lived in a small room and worked odd jobs between classes to afford rent and food.He had no money for materials.“The school introduced us to things like collage—using old magazines to create an artwork if you don’t have money for paints,” said Buthelezi.“Without those fancy traditional ways of making art,we expanded our way of looking at art and life.”
He began collecting plastic trash to “paint” with instead of expensive oil paints. He developed a technique of using an electric heat gun that produced hot air to melt(熔化)the plastic and then apply it to a recycled canvas(画布).This is more environmentally friendly.By the 1990s,Buthelezi was a professional artist, and he was determined to use innovation in art for the good of the planet.

In an era when people trust news less than ever, how can journalists break through and attract the attention of average people to provide information about their communities, the nation and the world By not complicating things.
Our research, published in Science Advances, shows that simple headlines significantly increase article engagement and clicks compared with headlines that use complex language. In our research, typical news readers preferred simple headlines over complex ones. But importantly,we found that those who actually write headlines—journalists themselves—did not.
We first used data from The Washington Post and Upworthy to see how language features, such as word length and how common a word is,changed how many people clicked on an article’s headline. These datasets included over 31,000 randomized experiments—also known as A/B tests—that compared two or more headline versions of the same article to determine which one generated the most clicks.
Headlines with more common words—simple words like “job” instead of “occupation”— shorter headlines, and those communicated in a storytelling manner, with more pronouns(代词)compared with prepositions(介词),received more clicks.
In follow-up laboratory experiments,we found that typical news readers focused more on simple rather than complex headlines because the writing was easier to understand. When journalists participated in the same experiments, they didn’t show any preference for simple headlines over complex ones.Put differently:Those who write the news appear to be less responsive to simple writing than regular audiences.
Generations of communication consultants have advised that communicators follow the acronym(缩写)KISS:Keep It Simple,Stupid. We suggest a modified version applied for journalists.Since KISJ(Keep It Simple,Journalists)isn’t all that simple,we propose:Keep
It Simple,Staffers.Simplicity increases the number of people who click on a news story headline and improves reader recall of the material in the article. Most importantly, simplicity boosts reader engagement, such as how much attention they pay to the information.
28.Which of the following headlines may receive more clicks
A.Get a Job You Love:Simple Steps.
B.Find Your Dream Occupation with These Tips.
C.Exploring Occupations for a Satisfying Career.
D.Occupational Opportunities for Ambitious Individuals.
29.What did the research discover about journalists
A.They found it easier to write complex headlines.
B.They preferred longer headlines to shorter ones.
C.They preferred simple headlines to complex ones.
D.They seem to be less attracted to simple writing than regular readers.
30.What does the underlined word “modified” in the last paragraph mean
A.Primitive. B.Changed. C.Final. D.Modeled.
31.What can we infer from the text
A.Readers prefer to click on a clear and simple headline.
B.Journalists should write more complex headlines to be informative.
C.The simpler the news headline, the more likely it is to attract readers.
D.The Washington Post is the only news source that uses simple headlines.
D
While parks and other green spaces are often viewed as beneficial for the well-being of those living in cities and urban regions,so far very few studies have explored the impact of these spaces on mental health.
Researchers at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China recently carried out a study investigating the potential link between long-term exposure to green spaces in proximity(接近)of one’s home and two of the most common mental health disorders:depression and anxiety.Their findings, published in Nature Mental Health, suggest that living close to parks and green areas can reduce the risk of becoming depressed and experiencing anxiety.
“Our research interest is environmental epidemiology(流行病学),which mainly focuses on the impacts of environmental exposure, such as greenery and air pollutants,on human health,” said Yaohua Tian,co-author of the paper.
Tian and his workmates first reviewed past studies exploring the link between proximity to nature and mental health. They found that there were only a few papers on this topic and those available had reached inconsistent conclusions.
“We therefore analyzed a large group of people to investigate the effects of long-term exposure to residential greenness on the risk of incident depression and anxiety,” Tian said.“We then further tested and compared the potential pathways by which greenness may impact mental health.”
As part of their study, the researchers analyzed data gathered from 409,556 people and stored in the UK Biobank database.“We assessed the level of greenness around each participant’s residential address within 300 m,500 m,1,000 m,and 1,500 m,” Tian explained.“Then,we determined their risk of developing mental health conditions over around 12 years, which was determined by national records on the death register, hospital admissions, primary care, and self-reports.”
“We draw the important conclusion that long-term exposure to residential greenness is associated with a decreased risk of incident depression and anxiety, and reduced air pollution in the greenest areas probably plays an important role in this trend,” Tian said.“Our study thus implies that governments should invest in new parks or expand existing green areas to promote good mental health.”
32.What did the researchers find in their study
A.The impacts of green spaces on physical health are great.
B.There is no relationship between proximity to nature and mental health.
C.Living close to parks and green areas can reduce the risk of anxiety.
D.Only a small number of people are affected by their proximity to green spaces.
33.What did the researchers do first in their study
A.They analyzed data from the UK Biobank database.
B.They conducted experiments on a group of people.
C.They reviewed past studies on the link between nature and mental health.
D.They tested potential pathways by which greenness impacts mental health.
34.What is a possible solution for governments to enhance people’s mental health
A.Reducing the population in cities.
B.Encouraging people to move to rural areas.
C.Increasing the number of mental health clinics.
D.Building new parks or making existing green spaces bigger.
35.Which of the following would be the best title for the text
A.Green Spaces and Mental Health Disorders

Pedaling(蹬车)through the freezing rain,I couldn’t help but wonder if this was the universe’s way of testing my commitment to biking to work.Yet,here I was, determined to keep my promise to myself and the environment.
Biking’s timeless joy powers the kid in me.Unlike the monkey bars or swings I used to go on as a kid at the playground that now only cause me pain, biking still excites me.It’s a connection to my childhood,a time when the world was less complicated and the simple act of riding a bike was an adventure.
As a grown-up,riding my bike to work is a good way to avoid crowded buses and trains.I enjoy the exercise and the change of weather, whether it’s rainy, sunny, snowy,or windy.
And the sometimes cold and wet rides are often brightened by sightings of different animals, reminding me that there is beauty to be found even in the darkest of days. These encounters with wildlife are a humbling experience,a reminder of the delicate balance of nature and the interconnectedness of all living things.
Biking has become a source of calm for me.It’s during these rides that I face and think about life’s challenges.Angry at my boss Mad at my partner By the time I’ve reached the destination,I’ve hopefully evolved(逐渐演变)from annoyed to optimistic.
As a parent,I’m determined to pass on my joy of biking to my son.Our early adventures involved him sitting in a bike trailer, telling me I was pedaling too slow and that the ride was too bumpy(颠簸的).“Daddy, you must be tired.Your legs aren’t moving very fast,” he would say,his innocent observations making me laugh.
But as he grew older,I introduced him to riding his own bike, and together we explored the city, discovering new paths and parks.
