  Good morning. I’m very happy to be here today. It is a great honour to be invited to speak to you and to wish you well in the future. ② On my way to the hall just now, I stopped by some of your classrooms and read the notes you left for one another.

Sometimes life is not easy. At times it can be very hard. No matter how high you rise, there will be times when you fall down. ⑧ When this happens, remember this: there is no such thing as true failure. Failure is an opportunity to try something new. Pick yourself up and take a new road. ⑨ Remember to be brave. Remember to be your best. And always remember that you have your family and friends to support you.

辨析:speech, lecture, report 与talk
speech 普通用词,指一般的发言或讲话,可以是事先准备的,也可以是即兴的。指政治家等作的发言、演说。
lecture 指教授等作的教育性或学术性的演讲。
report 一般是指下级给上级或负责人给委托机关的书面或口头报告。
talk 强调非正式的演讲、报告,讲话方式一般较为自由。

She will give a speech to the students this Sunday.

so+be/ 情态动词/ 助动词+ 主语 意为“……也是”,表示上文中的肯定情况也适用于另一个人或物。
neither/nor + be/ 情态动词/ 助动词+ 主语 意为“……也不”,表示上文中的否定情况也适用于另一个人或物。
period 的固定搭配:
①development period 发展期
②growth period 生长期
③production period生产周期
e.g. Mary can speak English. So can Jack.
玛丽会说英文。杰克也会。

在使用助动词时,其时态与前一句保持一致,其单复数形式应与后面的主语保持一致。
“so+主语+be/情态动词/助动词”结构是省略句,意为“……的确如此”,表示说话人对前面或者对方所说的情况的赞同或证实。
