The Best Movies of the Past Years
The Kid
It sometimes seems there's an invisible force in the universe that we must all love Charlie Chaplin. His character in the movie finds an abandoned baby on the street and takes him home. These two are both a family and a team, held close by genuine joy in one another's company. When they're torn apart, it's heartbreaking; when they're reunited, it restores our faith in the order of the universe.
Bicycle Thieves
There are few greater film-watching experiences than Bicycle Thieves. On Antonio's first day of work, his bicycle is stolen, and he and his young son Bruno set out to get it back,a quest of desperation and need that at first strengthens the father-son bond, before nearly tearing it apart. What is even more impressive is that the director used no studio sets-all of the settings are real-life locations in Rome.
The Night of the Shooting Stars
The movie, set in Tuscany, follows a group of citizens who leave their village just before their houses are set to be blown up by the Nazis. The story is told through the eyes of six-year-old Cecilia, who sees the event as a great adventure. The movie is a mixture of comedy, fantasy and sorrowful drama.
Let There Be Light
It is a deeply moving documentary that describes, specifically, the effects of wartime trauma(创伤)on soldiers but also, more generally, the way men who have never been encouraged to talk about their feelings must find a way to do so in order to cure.
21. What is a characteristic of The Kid

B. Both have the same shooting angle.
C. Both involve the influence of wars.

American Mikaela Shiffrin has 97 World Cup wins-the most of any skier, male or female. “Mikaela is the best I've ever seen, male or female, in a few different categories,”six-time Olympic medalist Bode Miller told TIME in 2018, ahead of the 2018 Olympics. He said he considered Shiffrin's technical skills and risk management incomparable and couldn't decide whether she compares more to LeBron James because of her physical gifts or to Michael Jordan, since she makes dominance look easy.
She may make it look easy, but Shiffrin plays a strong mental game. From an early age,she took an interest in the mind-body aspects of sports. She read books like The Inner Game of Tennis, the influential book to quiet one's mnind in order to reach peak performance. “She was mmindful as a 9-year-old," says John Cole, human-performance director at Ski and Snowboard Club Vail,“before anyone knew what that was."
Shiffrin has been similarly ahead of the pattern on sleep. Ever since she played poorly in a middle-school soccer game after staying up late reading horror stories at a slumber party(睡衣派对),she has been crazy about getting enough shut-eye. She's famous on the World Cup circuit for taking naps.
Shiffrin went to high school at Burke Mountain Academy, a hillside school for ski racers in Vermont. Even among her fellow athletes, she was single-minded in her devotion to training, often quitting parties and dates.
Shiffrin's commitment was clear, but she couldn't avoid the anxiety that can destroy a skier's career. At the start of the 2016 season, she began to experience severe sickness before races. After consulting a sports psychologist, Shiffrin learned techniques to manage her nerves, and then she achieved victory after victory.
24. What is one of the reasons for Shiffrin's success according to Miller
A.Her hard work. B. Her risk handling.
C.Her faith. D.Her competitors.
25.What can be inferred from what John Cole said
A. Mind-focus aspects were difficult for kids.
B. Mind-body interest was a very new concept.
C.Shiffrin's early mental focus was rare for her age.
D.Physical ability determined an athlete's success.
26. Which words can best describe Mikaela Shiffrin
A.Ambitious and honest. B. Talented and devoted.
C.Considerate and dependent. D. Responsible and gentle.
27.How did Shiffrin deal with her anxiety
A.By getting enough shut-eye. B. By quitting parties and dates.
C. By majoring in psychology. D. By seeking advice from an expert.

Despite being more connected than ever, we're pretty lonely right now. So lonely,in fact, that in 2023, the World Health Organisation declared the "loneliness" a global public health concern.
“There are three types of loneliness. The psychological type is what we know best-'do you have someone to talk to about your problem?' If you don't, your cortisol(皮质醇)levels are up, causing serious stress," says Dr Jeremy Nobel. "Systematic exclusion is the second whether that be due to race, gender, disability or something else. The third is spiritual loneliness.'Does my life have meaning Does it have consequences '”
The solutions currently being offered by the tech world are designed to deal with psychological loneliness. Take Replica, for example. It's an AI chatbot program in the form of a virtual companion that you create. It even remembers details about previous conversations you've had with it. It all seemed like a decent option... until the data breaches happened. People who attach importance to privacy quit it immediately.
While there are plenty of tech-based attempts to address loneliness available, they're all relatively primitive in their approach, designed to be temporary fixes to the symptoms(症状)of loneliness, rather than a solution to the causes of it.
"We need to perceive loneliness for what it is, an emotional signal. WVhen you feel thirsty, it's a sign to drink water. When we feel lonely, it's a sign that we need social engagement or support. We wouldn't feel embarrassed about feeling thirsty," says Nobel."There's a cultural statement around loneliness that suggests we're guilty for feeling lonely. That comes with guilt that sends us into a self-continuing cycle.”
The occasional feeling of loneliness is perfectly normal, but the cycle can be where loneliness becomes challenging. Nobel highlights the cycle of loneliness where someone doesn't want to burden others so they withdraw. Even so, Nobel sees a future where wearables could contain loneliness sensors, tracking indicators of a period of loneliness. We're not there yet, but tech could soon be a crucial tool to deal with the loneliness.
28.What can we learn about "loneliness" from the first twoparagraphs
A. It has been a public health issue. B. It's classified based on our personal life.
C. It results from being connected. D. Psychological type is at its highest level.
29.The underlined words “data breaches" in paragraph 3 refer to incidents where
A.data is stolen B.data is sorted out neatly
C. users pick out personal data D.technicians mess up the data
30. What makes “loneliness" challenging according to Dr. Nobel
A. The limit of technology. B. The difficulty of finding its cause.
C.The cultural discrimination. D.The personality of people with loneliness.
31. What is the best titleof the text
A. AI Frees Us from Loneliness B. Loneliness Guides Us to Think Further
C. Could Experts Clarify Loneliness D. Could AI be the Cure for Loneliness
D
There is a tendency among how-to enthusiasts to talkabout creativity as if it had fixed objectives: things you know from the start will turn out to be novels or pieces of music.Writers and musicians who have suffered the uncertainties of creation believe that this is an unlikely thing. If they have to talk about it, they just cite "artistic vision" and leave it at that.
Some writers claim that they can identify a model and knock out a thriller. Positions are adopted:"story" is three acts and a cast of characters. Well, maybe so, but novels aren't cookie moulds(模具). And Mozart didn't write his music in something called “sonata form".These terms come later, after the job is done.
Scientists call this need to follow a model the set effect. It finds that a general tendency exists to favour known methods in problem-solving at the expense of alternatives. If you have ever tried a key in a lock and discovered that, though there are other keys to be tried, you prefer to keep jiggling(摆弄)the one that doesn't fit, then you have shown this tendency.
The set effect is also a good way of describing what can happen when an artistic approach stops producing results. A few years ago, when I finished Murmur, a novel about Turing,I knew I wouldn't be working that way again. Nevertheless, I still tried a second fiction and, undoubtedly, failed.
When Mozart spoke of understanding his musical compositions visually, he wasn't being poetic. He was literally describing his “artistic vision”. It's just like when a bee flies sideways, the location of a flower is revealed as much by that motion as by the flower itself.Perhaps artistic vision is a part of physical seeing, in which our expectations for a work are not as important as the work's rising shape; where looking sideways matters more than locked-on focus. Creative projects and artistic vision are a part of our animal response to the world, dynamic and not fixed.
32. How does the author introduce the topic of the text
A. By making comparisons.
B.By presenting different opinions.
C. By illustrating a particular phenomenon.
D. By demonstrating similarities among artists.
33. What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 2 imply
A.Writing is unlike cooking.
B. Creating never follows a set pattern.
C. Writers should learn from Mozart.
D. Writers should abandon writing moulds.
34. What do we know about the set effect
A. It is a need to solve problems with fixed patterns.
B. It is the best way to solve problem.
C. It explains people's tendency to make choices.
D. It results in people's improper behaviours.
35. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about
A. Bees' movement models after humans'.
B.Creation process is dynamic.
C.Mozart composed music visually.
D. Illustrations of artistic vision.

B. Later on, it was applied to mainstream pop.
C. Hip-hop has become the dominant form of music.

第二节(满分25分)

The verbal conflict with my next-door neighbour, Pat, let me shocked. We had stayed a normal relationship as neighbours since the day we moved in, but his accusation that summer morning was too much, especially when my family had tried our best not to bother him.
I didn't remember when he stopped being friendly. I could not understand it. He avoided every conversation with us and even walked away when I approached! On that particular morning, I had been gardening out when I saw Pat throw a large doggy waste from his garden onto ours. I was so upset, and I walked right over and faced up to him.“Why would you do that ”
Folding his arms defensively, he claimed that our dog was the culprit(犯人).“I saw him do it,”Pat said. This so-called neighbour was lying to my face! I tried to remain calm. “There is no way our dog did that." Pat didn't back down. “Keep your dog off my yard,” he told me. My upset turned to anger and I let loose. "Pat, you are a real piece of work!" I stormed in my front door and called my husband, Kevin, at work. I told him that Pat should accuse our dog of making trouble in his yard. Our dog was a Chihuahua, too little to brave himself out of our house. His advice: stay away from Pat. So I did. Pat returned the favour. If I saw him while we were both out walking, he'd cross to the opposite side of the street. When I drove past his house, he'd turn his back to my car.
One morning, I glanced out upstairs and found Pat was already carefully tending his beautiful grapes. I had a mixed feeling. On one hand, I couldn't believe a man with so much care for a plant should be such an impolite person; on the other hand, I still couldn't understand why Pat treated us in such a manner.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
