Ask the Ss to try to spell some words and expressions. Step 2 Clarity of task (2’) Task: Suppose you are a chef in the western kitchen. Mike is a trainee from a vocational school. On the first day of his practice, he wants to know the usages of kitchen facilities and then talk about them with you. 设计目的:Make the Ss be clear about what they are expected to achieve in this lesson. Step 3 Analysis the task (1’) 设计目的:Get students’ ideas into shape with the mind-map. Step 4 Task preparation(10’) Activity 1 Make the Ss write out the names of kitchen facilities as many as possible in pairs, such as oven, gas stove, grill, microwave,salamander, steamer, dish washer, deep fryer. Activity 2 Ask the Ss to choose some of the kitchen facilities and discuss the usages of them. Gas stove is a machine to cook food. Grill is a machine to grill meat. Microwave is a machine to cook food very quickly. Oven is a machine to cook food. 设计目的:Make the Ss go over and sum up what they have learned and energize them to be ready for the lesson. Step 5 Task implementation(15’) Activity 1 Listen and answer. Make the Ss listen to the dialogue and find out the answers to the questions. It is used for frying food. 设计目的:Let the Ss catch the key information while listening and get the main idea of the dialogue. Activity 2 Oral practice Read the dialogue followed by the recording. Read the dialogue in pairs. Invite some students to read the dialogue by roles. Show some pictures of kitchen facilities and ask them to make a dialogue in pairs according the key structures: A: What do you call this in English B: It is a (an) _________.
