Tesla opened doors at a Hollywood event last Thursday to introduce its long-promised robotaxi. CEO Elon Musk has bet(打赌) these efforts will drive the electric vehicle maker's long-term growth and build a different world in the future.
The self-driving Tesla taxis will be called Cybercabs. Passengers can take the taxi through an app. Individual(个人的) Tesla owners will also be able to make money on the app by listing their vehicles as robotaxis.
The event is titled "I, Robot." It is inspired(激励) by short stories by American writer Isaac Asimov. It also shows Musk's resolution that Tesla should be thought of as an Al robotics company rather than an common brand.
Investors(投资人)and Tesla fans were present. Topping their list of questions will be how quickly Tesla can raise robotaxi production, at what cost, and, especially, how much money it can make from the taxi business.
In 2019, Musk said he was very "confident". He believed the company would have robotaxis by the next year. Tesla failed to meet these promises. This year, Musk canceled his plans to build a smaller, cheaper car and changed his focus to develop the new robotaxis.
To show investors that Tesla can keep growing, the company shared more information. Investors say that Musk needs to give clear plans on how Tesla can beat competitors like Alphabet's Waymo, which has run driverless robotaxis that carry passengers in some U. S. cities.

Li Baoguo was a university teacher in Hebei Province. He thought it wasn’t enough to give lessons just in a classroom. Li spent his whole life helping poor farmers improve their agricultural (农业的) skills. In 2016, he died, President Xi Jinping said that he was like “Yu gong on the Tai hang Mountains”.
Li Baoguo did most of his important work in the Tai hang Mountains. The farmers needed to change the empty, lifeless mountains around them into green land, so Li decided to help them.
He taught the farmers how to make ditches (沟渠) to collect rain water, and then helped then grow apple trees and other crops. He organized more than 800 training lessons and wrote some books for them to read. After 1981, he spent more than 200 days every year planting trees and crops with the villagers.
