Fully aware of the difference between special education and general education, Xie provides specialized care to each student according to their physical conditions and helps them with learning and living. For example, she had taken the responsibility of looking after a student with physical disability for nine years until the student graduated from the school.
In 2013, Xie’s workload became heavier after she was assigned(指派) to work at the school’s rehabilitation (康复) center, which had been built ten years ago. To make sure that every child received suitable training, she worked out specific plans for them. For children with mental disability, Xie patiently taught them to master basic skills. She also spent lots of time training children with hearing and speech problems to work on their pronunciation.
Starting in 2015, the school carried out an activity of offering door-to-door education to students who could not attend school because of severe physical disabilities. Xie was among over 30 teachers tasked with tutoring(辅导) those students. It’s really a challenge for people to find consistent motivation to exercise regularly. Wishing not to hit gyms, you can invent tons of excuses. However, out of most people’s expectation, a certain amount of physical exercise every week can stop your IQ from declining.
IQ, to a large degree, is determined by genes. It has long been established that genes account for about 70 percent of IQ. And environmental factors, like diet, quality of education and brain stimulation, affect the other 30 percent.
IQ can be put into two types — “fluid” and “crystallized” intelligence. The former refers to the ability to reason and think flexibly, while the latter refers to the build-up of knowledge, facts, and skills that are acquired throughout life. The two have a dynamic relationship: fluid IQ decides how much information you can take in and how fast you can take it in, which means a higher fluid IQ contributes to your crystallized IQ. They keep growing until your early twenties, when they both reach the peak. Unfortunately, this will not keep the same for the rest of your life. Fluid intelligence declines rapidly with age.
What causes this decline It all comes down to your cardiovascular (心血管的) system. It calls for a large amount of oxygen for the brain to function well. The less exercise you have as you get old, the less oxygen your heart provides to supply your brain. Exercise also promotes the release of certain chemicals that are critical to the brain’s health, bringing about better concentration and memory.
Taking proper physical exercise can help to prevent IQ from declining as you get older. Why not choose to hit the gym for the sake of IQ intelligence

A. By making comparisons. B. By listing the numbers and data.

A. Crystallized intelligence develops more slowly than Fluid intelligence.
B. Fluid intelligence is more important than Crystallized intelligence.
C. A lower fluid intelligence is not good for Crystallized intelligence.
D. Fluid intelligence and crystallized intelligence increase with age.
30. What problem should be to blame for the decline of IQ intelligence
A. A mental disorder. B. A bad mood.
C. A lack of flexibility. D. A weak heart.
31. What’s the purpose of writing this passage
A. To persuade people to exercise. B. To inform people of IQ intelligence.
C. To criticize those who are lazy. D. To advertise for gyms.
D
Both Alice and Curie love traveling to other countries, and they came together for this hobby. Though they had been married for 5 years, their shared hobby is also a source of contention. “It is I who do all the planning and book,” says Alice. “Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy it, but if Curie cared a little more about it, he wouldn’t show up for a flight to Grenada packed for a winter break. ‘Jumpers and boots!’ I cried. ‘You’re supposed to have packed shorts and T-shirts — it’s 30℃ in the Caribbean!’ Then I realized he thought we were going to Granada, in Spain.
How Alice and Curie each deal with their travel plans is just an example of the many ways in which men and women differ. Yet, is what goes on inside our minds and bodies really so different Furthermore, are we born that way
Scientists are divided on this issue. The majority of them believed that patterns of behavior thought to be more male or female are learnt firstly from our parents, then from our peers and, ultimately, from the societies in which we live. As Simone de Beauvoir famously said, “one is not born, but rather becomes, a woman.”
However, some other scientists believed that male and female brains are actually wired differently. In one study in which 34 monkeys were required to interact with different types of toys, the males showed a strong preference for toys with wheels rather than soft toys, while the females were noticeably drawn to soft toys. These preferences were clearly not the result of parental influence.
Whatever the truth behind the differences between men and women, we can safely conclude that although the social impact on how we think and behave is undeniable, there exists a biological contribution. The question that now needs answering is to what extent biology affects the choices we make and the way other people treat us.
32. The function of the first paragraph is ________.
A. to show how women are different from men.
B. to show how angry the wife is.
C. to lead in the topic of this passage.
D. to make the author’s argument clearer.
33. What does the underlined sentence in the 3rd paragraph mean
A. Females and males are biologically different.
B. Females become different from males in many aspects.
C. Scientists’ opinions vary about how females and males differ.
D. Social impact leads to the difference between females and males.
34. The study of monkeys proves that ________.
A. males and females are born different
B. males and females are influenced by their parents and peers
C. monkeys, like human beings, have their own characteristics
D. monkeys of different sexes have different preferences
35. What will most probably be talked about to follow the last paragraph
A. What causes the differences between men and women.
B. How men and women are biologically different.
C. Why males and females are different.
D. Where the differences between males and females take place.

It had to be a lot better than looking out of a window. Sadie thought about the fun she had last summer when she and her best friend Allison went to the beach. They built sandcastles, played beach volleyball, and even tried surfing. But they wouldn’t be going to the beach together this summer because Allison had moved to a different city far away from Sadie’s.
Suddenly, Sadie had an idea. She could call her friend Wendy, who always had funny ideas. Maybe they could ride their bikes together around the park. Sadie raced to the living room, picked up the phone, and called Wendy. She sighed more deeply as the phone rang and rang. Then Sadie seated herself on the sofa, picked up the television remote, and put it down again. She didn’t really want to watch television, so she went to her room and found the list of phone numbers of her good friends from school. In the living room, she called almost each of them, but no one was at home.
After hanging up the phone, Sadie wandered into the kitchen and sat down at the table, watching her mom do the cleaning. “Mom, I don’t have anyone to hang out with because my friends from school aren’t home and Allison moved away,” said Sadie. “Honey, there are many things you can do by yourself, like playing your guitar or having a walk in the garden. You could even finish that story about our camping trip,” said Mom.
“I don’t want to do those things by myself. I want to play with a friend.” “Sometimes, it is nice to do things by yourself,” said Mom. “I like seeing my friends, but I also like doing things alone like taking a walk by myself or finding a quiet spot to read. Why not have a try ”

【答案】Dear Committee members,
I wish to make a suggestion about starting a school art gallery. There are many students who are good at painting in our school. The school art gallery can provide these students with a very good platform to display their own paintings, offer them a chance to admire the artistic achievements and the development of school culture as well as widen their knowledge. If you were to offer such an opportunity to the students who are fond of art, I believe they would give you a big surprise.
I would be more than happy if my suggestion could be considered.
Yours faithfully,
Li Hua
