It’s 124 years since Europe’s first long- distance footpath was opened, and you can dip in and out of almost every route for a hike.
Hadrian’s Wall Path, England
Hadrian’s Wall is Britain’s finest Roman monument and to understand how iron- willed people will be to finish such an achievement, you have to sweat over the same hills as the Roman emperor’s soldiers would have done along this 84-mile footpath. Reaching the wall’s western end, you may find yourself sharing the beach next to some cows sitting on its sands.
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path, Wales
The 186- mile seaside hike offers the same mix of cliff tops, beaches and secret caves that you’ll find on England’s famous 630-mile South West Coast Path. Most memorable of all is the wildlife, which is often easy to spot from the path. Spend a couple of weeks walking its full length, and you’ll have a keen sense that Britain’s coastline is filled with life.
The Tour du Mont Blanc, France
Mont Blanc is western Europe’s tallest mountain. Walking around it on this 103-mile route at a measured pace and with a couple of rest days, it’ll take nearly two weeks to get round it. However, the route is conveniently divided into 11 sections, plus public transport and cable cars can also be used to skip certain sections for a shorter hiking adventure.
Kaiserkrone, Austria
This most popular Alpine hike isn’t short of scenery. As you walk its five stages totalling 36 miles, you’ll dip into fragrant pine forests and cross Alpine meadows. There’s a memorable range of accommodation on offer, from the mid- mountain Gruttenhutte down to the Gasthof Griesenau in the valley.
21.What will impress hikers most at Hadrian’s Wall Path
A.The memorable wildlife. B.The fragrant pine forests.
C.The ancient Roman monument. D.The handy public transport.
22.Which of the four hikes covers the longest distance
A.Kaiserkrone. B.Hadrian’s Wall Path.
C.The Tour du Mont Blanc. D.The Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
23.What is special about Kaiserkrone
A.It provides accommodation in some parts. B.It has vehicles for short hiking experience.
C.It has some of England’s best secret caves. D.It reminds people of the greatness of Romans.

“Is this a high school or a small town ” I thought to myself scanning (浏览) my campus map. It was my first day of classes at my senior high school. I felt like an ant at that huge school.
I found my schedule and placed it next to the map. I had a biology class at 9:30 am in the BISIC building. I looked at my watch. It was 9:05 am, which gave me plenty of time, or so I thought. After walking around for 15 minutes, unable to find my way, I began to get very anxious. Just then a middle-aged woman in a bright purple dress approached me and asked me if I needed help. “Yes,” I said. “I am looking for the BISIC building.” A smile appeared on the lady’s face. “Oh, don’t worry, that is nearby!” She offered to direct me to my class, and I made it to my first class on time.
The strange faces around me brought a sense of loneliness. I didn’t know one person in that great big class. When my last class came to a close, the nervousness of the day finally disappeared.
It was finally time to go home. Along my walk, I recollected my classes and activities of the day and the new friends I had made. The comfort of arriving home was the best feeling that day. The day had so many things. All in all, I felt very thankful to have the chance to study in such a great high school.

A.The online map. B.The friendly teacher.
C.The large campus. D.The new classmates.
25.What happened to the author before his biology class
A.He chose the wrong seat in the classroom. B.He was unable to find his watch.
C.He was late for his first class. D.He got lost in school.
26.What did the author experience at his first class
A.A feeling of loneliness. B.An interest in biology.
C.Complete boredom. D.Great comfort.
27.Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A.Learning: a time of happiness. B.Education: the key to success.
C.My first day of high school. D.My love of campus life.

The Internet is a very useful resource, It’s no surprise, then, that people tend to use it for all sorts of purposes—even medical advice. In the USA, I in 20 Google searches contains questions related to health.
“There are plenty of reasons why people might turn to the Internet rather than go to see a doctor. After all, a doctor may require an appointment (预约), while information about medical treatments on the Internet can be found right away. So people may not want to leave their homes and wait for their turns to see doctors. Others just want to feel informed before they go to the doctor’s office, so they can be well-prepared for the visit and the cost of the treatment. Sometimes, people put so much trust in the information they find online that they don’t think seeing a doctor is necessary,” Tracy Sam, a manager from a website said.
Going online for medical advice may sound like a good idea. Indeed, some famous hospitals in the world have websites that allow users to look up their symptoms (症状). However, illnesses can be much more complex (复杂的) than they seem. A single fever could have extensive causes, which can include the common cold, food poisoning, and cancer. Reading long lists of possible causes of a condition is enough for anyone to become confused. If this is the case, Internet searches can actually make things worse.
Nowadays patients’ habit of researching their symptoms online also becomes popular. Doctors often report that some patients are persuaded that their illnesses should be much more serious than they actually are. Such patients often insist on expensive tests and treatments that they don’t need. Doctors also find that some patients think they know better than the doctors themselves after looking up medical advice online. They are called “know-it-all” patients. There are actually many mistakes about online medical advice. But these patients seldom doubt it. Doctors always feel they can’t do anything to change these patients’ minds.
Searching your symptoms online can be useful when you really have some medical emergencies or when you have some difficulties in understanding some medical technical words. However, the Internet is not a replacement for a medical professional. In the end, you should go to see doctors because they know best.
28.What does Tracy Sam suggest
A.Hospitals are overcrowded.
B.Patients like instant information.
C.Hospitals offer expensive treatments.
D.Patients seldom believe in online information.
29.What does the underlined word “extensive” in paragraph 3 mean
A.long-lasting B.wide-ranging C.common D.immediate
30.How can doctors feel if they come across “know-it-all” patients
A.Offensive. B.Unknown. C.Powerless. D.Selfless.
31.Why does the author write the last paragraph
A.To make a suggestion. B.To give an example.
C.To draw a comparison. D.To describe a situation.
D
Cheating can happen in a lot of different ways. When people cheat, it’s not fair to other people, like the kids who studied for the test or who were the true winners of a game. Many people like the action of cheating. It makes difficult things seem easy, like getting all the right answers on the test. But it doesn’t solve the problem of not knowing the material and it won’t help on the next test — unless the person cheats again.
Some people lose respect for cheaters and think less of them. The cheaters themselves may feel bad because they know they are not really earning that good grade. And, if they get caught cheating, they will be in trouble at school, and maybe at home, too. The teachers might criticize them, and their parents might be disappointed with them.
Some kids cheat because they’re busy or lazy and they want to get good grades without spending the time studying. Other kids might feel like they can’t pass the test without cheating. Even when there seems to be a “good reason” for cheating, cheating isn’t a good idea.
If you were sick or upset about something the night before and couldn’t study, it would be better to talk with the teacher about this. And if you don’t have enough time to study for a test because of swim practice, you need to talk with your parents about how to balance swimming and school. Honesty is a kind of essential merit for people.
A kid who thinks cheating is the only way to pass a test needs to talk with the teacher and his or her parents so they can find some solutions together. Talking about these problems and working them out will feel better than cheating.
32.What does the author think of cheating
A.It does harm to kids’ health.
B.Teachers should punish cheaters.
C.It is unfair to other people.
D.Teachers should understand cheaters.
33.What do we know about the cheaters
A.They are often thought well of.
B.They get no respect from other people.
C.They cheat in the test with confidence.
D.They often get their classmates into trouble.
34.Which can be the main idea of Paragraph 3
A.Why kids cheat in the test.
B.Cheating isn’t a good idea.
C.Some kids don’t spend the time studying.
D.Some kids can’t pass the test without cheating.
35.Which is the suggestion for cheaters
A.Finding good ways instead of cheating.
B.Trying hard to be intelligent rather than lazy.
C.Spending more time on school than on sports.
D.Asking their classmates for good methods of study.

Everyone is born into a family, but not everyone gets a healthy one. Why is family important What kind of impact does it have on a person in their childhood and as a grown-up Here are four reasons why family is important:
1. Families set the stage for future relationships.
The very first relationships a child has are with their parents and any siblings (兄弟姐妹). 36 It's often not a decision they are aware of, but people often choose partners and friends based on how similar they are to their family.
2. During hard times, people need a family they can depend on.
37 This can be emotional or financial (情感的或金钱的) support. Someone going through hard times will turn to their family if they trust them to provide encouragement and love.
3. Quality time with family is connected to better academic performance.
Columbia University did a series of studies on family dinner time. One study showed that kids who ate dinner with their family less than three times were twice as likely to get Cs or below in school. 38 Of course, there are other things at play, but families that value dinners together likely value other positive family communications.
4. 39
Families are the first place where children learn how to manage their emotions and communicate with others. Parents are responsible for guiding their children and providing life lessons that will be remembered for years to come. 40
A.Families teach important life lessons.
B.When life gets hard, people need support.
C.When families are strong, communities are strong.
D.These lessons form a big part of a person's worldview.
E.Family relationships are connected to a person's health.
F.These relationships provide a model for what future relationships will look like.
G.On the other hand, kids who had family dinners 5-7 times a week did much better.
