China is a country with a great history. Let us see some of the greatest ancient mysteries in China.
Ancient City Under Fuxian Lake
With an area of 212 square kilometers, Fuxian Lake is the third-largest lake in Yunnan Province. In 2001, a research team discovered a stonework under the lake, covering an area of nearly 2.4 to 2.7 square kilometers. Researchers said that the stonework was 1,750 years old. It's believed that it was remains(遗迹) of the ancient Dian Kingdom which mysteriously disappeared after 86 BC.
Mystery of the Huashan Caves(洞穴)
The Huashan Caves are near Huangshan in Anhui Province. They' re from 10 to 20 meters in height. 36 caves were found among the hills. Some of them are filled with water, while some are two-floor caves. The walls and stone stairs show that men dug the caves and they have a history of more than 1,700 years. As no historical records tell what those caves were used for, the reason for creating those caves remains a mystery.
Ancient World Under the Taklamakan Desert
The Taklamakan Desert is the largest desert in China. Ancient people believed that once you entered the desert, there was no getting out of it. But over the years, researchers have begun to discover some of the secrets that have been hidden in this mysterious area. Remains of houses and the ancient city of Loulan were found under the sand. In the late 1980s, several mummies(木乃伊) which were at least 3,000 years old were also discovered there.

Dong Yuhui, a 30-year-old livestreaming（直播） host for East Buy(东方甄选), found himself in an online controversy(争议) that began on Dec.5,2023. East Buy, a subsidiary (子公司) of the New Oriental education, said that many of the things Dong said in his livestreams were written by the East Buy team, not by himself. The then-CEO, Sun Dongxu, criticized Dong and the team, which made Dong’ s fans upset.
Surprisingly,this controversy made Dong even more popular. In just one week,his Douyin followers increased by over 3 million,and Dong became vice president of New Oriental's cultural and tourism business.
Though his fame is rising,Dong remains humble. "I am not good﹣looking or tall;I don't know why I have so many supporters. " he said.

Li Shizhen, known as the“Saint of Medicine(医圣)” in Chinese history, wrote a famous book Bencao Gangmu about traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).
Li was born in a family of doctors in Qizhou in today’ s Hubei Province. Although his father and grandfather were both doctors, his father didn't want Li to be a doctor. He wanted Li to be an officer(官员).
When Li was only 14, he took the imperial civil examination (科举考试) at the county level and passed. But he failed the provincial-level exam three times. Finally, Li gave up and decided to follow in his father' s footsteps to become a doctor.
Li read many books about TCM. However, in those books, he found many mistakes. He worried that (60)这些错误会造成严重的问题.So, he made up his mind to write a new medical book.
