Step 1 Warming up
(1)Show the photo on Page 19 to the Ss.Then ask them to look and share:
①Who are the people in the photo
②Where are they
③How do you think they feel
(2)Let the students discuss them.Ask some students to share their answers.
Step 2 Work on 1a
1a Tick the expressions you know.
First,ask the students to translate the expressions in 1a into Chinese.Then ask them to tick the expressions they know.
Step 3 Listening
1b Listen to two conversations and number the pictures in the order you hear them.
(1)Let students look at the pictures and say what are they doing in the pictures.
(2)Play the tape and ask students to number the pictures in the order they hear them.
(3)Then check the answers.

1c Listen again and circle the coloured words you hear.
(1)Play the tape again and let the students listen carefully.

Step 1 Pronunciation
1 Listen and repeat.
(1)Play the recording,and then ask the Ss to repeat it.
(2)Explain the key points of pronunciation about the front vowel,show the pronunciation of them to the Ss and then ask them to repeat.
(3)Have the Ss read the words together.
2 Listen and circle the sentences you hear. Then repeat them.
(1)Ask the Ss to find the differences of each group.Then let them pay attention to the bold words.
(2)Play the recording and then let the Ss circle the sentences they hear. Teacher checks the answers.

3a Read the sentences and circle the verbs. Then write am, is or are next to the personal pronouns.

一、一般现在时中的be动词
1.be动词的形式
在一般现在时中,be动词有三种形式,即am, is,are。
2.be动词的用法
(1)Be动词三种形式的使用
am用于主语I之后;is用于主语为第三人称单数代词、可数名词单数或不可数名词等情况后;are用于主语为复数及第二人称you等情况后。如:
I am a student.我是一名学生。
He is my friend.他是我的朋友。
His name is Tom.他的名字是汤姆。
Milk is healthy food.I drink it every day.牛奶是健康食品。我每天都喝。
They are in China.他们在中国。
You are so kind.Thank you very much.你真好,非常感谢你。
(2)be动词的一般疑问句及其答语
结构:Be动词+主语+其他
肯定回答:Yes,主语+be.
否定回答:No,主语+be+not.
如:—Is she Jenny 她是詹妮吗?
—Yes,she is./No,she isn’t.是的,她是。/不,她不是。
3.be动词的缩写
Be动词有时可以与前后的单词缩写,如:
I’m=I am he’s/she’s/it’s=he/she/it is
we’re/you’re/they’re=we/you/they are
isn’t=is not aren’t=are not
【注意】be动词不能缩写的情况:
(1)在肯定的简略回答中不能与其前面的人称代词缩写。
(2)am与not不能缩写。
—Are you Lucy 你是露西吗?
—Yes, I am. /No, I’m not. 是的,我是。/不,我不是。
(3)this is不可以缩写,但that is可缩写为that’s。

Step 1 Lead in
(1)Show students a picture of Wang Yaping.Introduce her to the students.
(2)Tell students what a personal profile is and summarize what information are included in a personal profile.
Step 2 Worn on 3a—3c
3a Answer the questions to introduce yourself.
(1)Ask a student to say something in front of the class, including his/her name, age, favourite sport /colour /food and hobbies.
(2)And let other students talk about their own personal profile in groups. Then complete the task in 3a.
3b Write your personal profile and put it together with your classmates’. Here is an example.
(1)Show students a simple writing. Then give some important tips to avoid mistakes.
(2)Let students finish 3b and put their writing together.
3c Take turns to pick out one classmate’s profile. Introduce the person to the class, but do not say the name. The class will guess who he or she is.
Play the game “Guess who is” in class and let students take turns to pick out one classmate’s profile. Let other students guess who he or she is.
