The ceremonial dress
It is an improved qipao, which expresses the traditional beauty of the East, with its pattern designs mainly inspired by elements (元素) from the Qiantang River tide and the Ten Scenc s of West Lake in Hangzhou. The dress is difficult to make, and it takes an experienced tailor about 12 hours to finish one dress.
The sports socks
The company uses 32 pieces of Xinjiang cotton as raw material. The socks are mainly yellow, orange and Chinese red, so they look bright and beautiful. The producers try to make each pair of socks soft and comfortable to wear.
The ribbons
The ribbons are made of 100%6A grade silk. Producers use the silk not only because it is comfortable and cool for the wearer, but also because it symbolizes the city of Hangzhou, which is known as China's“silk capital”. Each ribbon is sewed by hand, and every craftsman must have more than 10 years of experience.

Long John Silver and another pirate(海盗) were outside the fort(堡垒) holding a white flag.

After shooting for a while, we rushed outside and fought them in the open with our swords. We killed more of them. The rest of the pirates ran away. When the fighting was over, we went back inside. The numbers were now reduced from seven of us against nineteen pirates to four against nine.

Hundreds of emperor penguin chicks(帝企鹅雏鸟) jumped off a 15-meter cliff(悬崖), as high as afivē-story building. This scene was captured(拍摄) in January at Atka Bay, Antarctica.
This jump seems brave but could be lethal to these young penguins.
National Geographic shows us emperor penguins usually raise their chicks on sea ice platforms. When these chicks are 5 months old, they lose their baby feathers and grow adult feathers, which are waterproof.
Not long after, the chicks have to begin their first swim in the ocean to hunt for themselves. Normally,
they just need to jump from the sea ice, which is less than a meter high.
However, the fast-melting(快速融化) ice in Antarctica changes the situation. The Antarctic summer sea ice has declined (减少) quickly since 2016, reported the BBC. In February 2023, the total area of sea ice reached a record low of 1.91 million square kilometers.
“Emperors depend on sea ice for their breeding cycle(繁殖周期). It's the platform they use to bring up their young,” Peter Fretwell from the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), told the BBC. If the ice platform melts or breaks apart before chicks develop their waterproof feathers, they are more likely to drown(溺亡) or freeze to death. For this reason, emperor penguins are now choosing to raise their babies on the ice shelf. Asa result, chicks must face the challenge of jumping off a high cliff.
“When the chicks get to this cliff face, they’ re like ... This does not look like a fun jump, but I guessI'm gonna have to go,” Michelle LaRue, a scientist at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, told National Geographic.
According to Live Science, the decline in the ice has caused thousands of emperor penguin chicks to die in West Antarctica in 2022. The continuing decline of sea ice may force more emperors to make their nests on ice shelves, said Fretwell.
“It's heartbreaking to think that the whole species(物种) may be gone if climate change continues on the path that it's on at the moment,” he added.

On November 14,2023, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)(国际民用航空组织) officially recognized(认可) China's Bei Dou Satellite Navigation(卫星导航) System (BDS) as the world level. This makes it one of the four major global satellite navigation systems, along with the United States'GPS, Russia's GLONASS and the European Union's Galileo. _
China started to develop the BDS in 1994. The system came into use in 2000. After 12 years of work, it began serving the Asia-Pacific region. China's satellite navigation industry is growing fast. Its value reached more than 500 billion yuan in 2022. That number is expected to double by 2025. In the first half year of 2023, there were about 13.4 million newBDS devices(设备). Nearly 60% were used in transport systems. The rest were used in communication and agriculture. The former made up about 28% and the latter 12%.
As BDS gets more popular, it is expected to play an increasingly important role in global navigation and positioning services.
