A country has its laws (法规) and a family also has its rules. My name is Tom. There are many rules in my family. For example, I have to stay at home on school nights. Sometimes, I want to do my homework at my friend’s home. But my mother says, “You’d better not because it is too late to go out.” At this moment I feel very upset. I think parents should allow us to study in our friends’ houses.
I like watching TV very much. But I am not allowed to watch TV on school nights. My parents always ask me to do my homework first when I get home. After dinner, I always do the dishes and sweep the floor because my parents think these are good for me.
My parents don’t allow me to stay up. I understand it, because teenagers should sleep for 8 or 9 hours a day. But when I have a test, I have to stay up late. I should spend lots of time in studying for my test. In my opinion, parents should allow us to stay up sometimes.
There is a good saying, “Nothing can be accomplished without norms or standards (没有规矩,不成方圆).” I know I have many rules to follow at home because my parents love me. So I will follow the rules better.

Not far from the beach of Tulum, Mexico, there is a cave (洞穴) called Sac Actun. It is more than 4,000 years old and may be the longest underwater cave in the world.
“Sac Actun” means “white caves” in one Mayan (玛雅人的) language. Many tourists come to visit the cave every year. They swim in the clear underground water and watch small fish swimming in the wonderful underground world.
Recently, a team of scientists found a connection (关联) between Sac Actun and another large underwater cave near it. In the past, people thought Sac Actun was about 263 kilometres long, but now scientists say the cave is connected to a 83-km-long cave—Dos Ojos. This would make Sac Actun a 346-km-long cave.
The connection between the two caves was reported after the scientists spent months working in the water. The finding can help people learn more about the ancient Mayan population. They lived in parts of Mexico and other places in the area. There are hundreds of Mayan relics in the cave, according to Guillermo de Anda, the director of the team. “It allows us to learn more about the ancient Maya people—how their cities appeared,” said Guillermo de Anda.
It is also possible that Sac Actun could get bigger. The scientists think that the cave might be connected to three other underwater caves. All of them are near one another by the city of Tulum.
