The saying “good medicine tastes bitter” may no longer hold in the country where it was born and believed. Xi Linjie, a 20-year-old college student, sought help for fatigue(疲劳) at a traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) hospital in Chongqing and was pleasantly surprised by a cup of sweet milk tea. “TCM ingredients such as tapioca(木薯粉) and dried tangerine peel(陈皮) are added to the milk tea, yet it tastes delightful. It's less sweet than regular milk tea and has a subtle herbal fragrance,” she says. “Most importantly, it's beneficial to health.”
Since 2023, the hospital has blended TCM processing techniques with contemporary food production to attract a younger generation. “Milk tea is a favorite among young people. We hope it can act as a bridge for them to gain more knowledge about TCM and gradually accept it,” says Liao Changying, director of the hospital's nutrition department.
“The TCM milk tea represents the integration of TCM, modern medicine, nutrition and more. Our goal is to
help people prevent and manage diseases while enjoying delicious food and drinks,” Liao explains. Besides, the TCM milk tea shows how traditional medicine is appealing to the younger generation in an approachable manner. Nowadays, one doesn't even need to visit a hospital to experience TCM in China.
In Chongqing's Wansheng economic development zone, á TCM night market is held every weekend. “At these diverse stalls, we can enjoy free diagnoses and acupuncture and purchase TCM sachets(香囊) and drinks,” says Yang Jian, a 24-year-old resident. “I never realized TCM could be so close to our daily lives.”
Doctor Wang Huiwu, who attended the night market, is pleased to see many young visitors seeking professional health advice on physical conditioning, which indicates that the younger generation has confidence in TCM. He also suggested that more efforts should be made to integrate TCM with other fields that interest young people, adding, “TCM is becoming a new trend among the youth”.

Kids’ educational test scores are a major concern globally. Learning declined during the COVID-19 pandemic, and even before that, standardized test results in mathematics, science, and reading were not improving. Parents worldwide are united by the desire to see their children succeed, but the challenges they face differ. While American and rich-world results have stagnated at relatively high levels, children in poorer countries struggle with basic skills.
Many policies have been tried, but they often fail to deliver. Increasing spending per student seems obvious, but it's ineffective if not used properly. India increased spending per primary school pupil by 71 percent over seven years, yet reading and math test scores still declined sharply. Smaller class sizes are another popular approach, but
they are one of the least cost-effective ways to improve student learning. A 2018 review of 148 reports from 41 countries found that smaller classes had “at best a small” effect on reading proficiency and no effect on math.
However, there is a promising policy from an unexpected place. Malawi, one of the poorest countries, has suffered from overcrowded classrooms and a shortage of trained teachers. Yet it is now embracing an educational policy that raises hope. The policy, “technology-assisted learning”, uses tablets to provide personalized, adaptive software that teaches at each child's exact level.
Teachers have been amazed at the engagement of their students. Children appreciate not being embarrassed by wrong answers or competing for the teacher's attention. This policy is incredibly cheap, costing as little as $15 per pupil per year in Malawi, and extensive studies show that one hour a day for one year can deliver three years of normal learning.
Malawi is extending this policy to all its primary schools, with costs even lower. Other countries like Sierra Leone and Tanzania are considering it. This approach could help nearly half a billion primary school children in poorer countries and could also be useful in rich countries, as trials in the UK suggest.
Parents are desperate for policies that could improve test scores and prepare their kids for the future. Tablets that teach at each student's own level offer a powerful way forward.
32. What does the underlined word “stagnated” in paragraph 1 mean
A. Improved rapidly.
B. Remained unchanged.

A. It introduces the main argument against traditional educational methods.
B. It serves as a conclusion to the article's discussion on education.
C. It offers a detailed comparison of policies across different countries.
D. It provides a background for the introduction of Malawi's policy.
34. What is the primary benefit of the “technology-assisted learning” policy in Malawi
A. It reduces the need for physical classrooms.
B. It significantly increases the number of trained teachers.
C. It allows for personalized learning at each child's level.
D. It provides a new source of income for teachers.
35. What potential benefit for children of Malawi is NOT mentioned

Have you ever wondered about the significance of emotions in our life Emotions play a critical part in our lives. For instance, when you are with your loved ones, your mood changes instantly. 36 Let's explore some powerful strategies to help you become emotionally strong!
Try Using “I” Statements. Whenever your feelings are disrupted or you get hurt, it is good to tell others how you really feel. 37 The best way to convey yourself is by using “I” statements instead of “You” statements. Here is an example: “I feel miserable and heartbroken.” You should use this statement instead of, “You make me feel miserable and heartbroken.”
Communicate Your Needs. People interact with us like we are mind readers sometimes. Your partner would want you to know exactly what they want, which can be extremely painful. 38 You need to communicate your needs to the other person, and they need to do the same with you. When you can easily communicate your needs, never rely on expectations. This way you will avoid feeling miserable.
39 Often, we say a lot when we are emotional, especially when we are angry. If not controlled, this can have severe consequences, especially in your relationship. You need to mind whatever you say and do. This can either make the other person love or hate you. The strategy in a stressful situation is to focus on yourself instead c focusing on others. This will calm you down instantly.
The path to becoming emotionally intelligent is very tough and not everyone is ab to do it. 40
A. Mind Your Actions and Words.
B. Take Responsibility for Your Actions.
C. You are not responsible for how others feel.
D. Just as you aren't a mind reader, others aren't too.
E. Masking your feelings or trying to be emotionless will only harm you.
F. Hopefully, with above strategies, you will not only become emotionally mature but will also improve as a person.

Sylvia came to her grandmother's farm in Vermont a year ago, from a dirty, crowded manufacturing town. The air in the countryside felt free, soft and sweet. Every day she would spend some time in the woods nearby. Some birds even came close to her, pecking at crumbs from her hands and singing away.
One day in the evening, a tall young man carrying a gun approached the door of their farm house. Putting down the gun, he said, “I've lost my way. Could I have a night's lodging(住宿) here ” Sylvia's grandma somehow agreed.
Then, the young man introduced himself as an ornithologist, who collected birds. “Do you put them in a cage ” Sylvia asked. “No,” he answered slowly, “I shoot them and get them stuffed and preserved. I have over 100 kinds of bird specimens(标本) in my study.” Sylvia felt her heart trembling as she imagined so many birds being shot.
“Sylvia knows a lot about birds, too,” her grandmother said proudly. “Maybe she can be my last hope!” the young man became thrilled. “I have followed a rare white heron(鹭) in this direction for two days. Have you seen it, too ” he asked Sylvia. “The heron has soft white feathers and long slender legs. It probably has its nest at a tree- top,” he added. Sylvia’ s heart gave a wild beat. She had seen the strange bird on the other side of the woods! The young man then stared at Sylvia with the hope of the heron being one of Sylvia’s acquaintances, “I would give $100 to whoever showed me where the white heron is!” But Sylvia was silent. He then sighed, “They have never been seen here. Perhaps it was only migrating, or had been chased out of its own region by some prey.”
That night, long after the moon came out and the young man had fallen asleep, Sylvia was broad awake. Her mind was alternately visited by the bird specimens and the wished-for treasures 100 dollars could buy.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;

56. was awarded。
57. known。

62. flavors。
63. increasing。
64. which。

A Surprising Discovery
Hidden behind the science building, there lies a quiet courtyard, a gem that many overlook. It’s a place where time seems to slow down, offering a stark contrast to the rush of everyday life.
I stumbled upon it one rainy day, seeking shelter from the downpour. As I stepped into the courtyard, I was greeted by lush greenery, delicate flowers, and the soothing sound of raindrops on leaves. This unexpected encounter revealed a peaceful refuge in the midst of the busy campus life. I believe it’s worth sharing because, in our fast-paced world, such tranquil spaces remind us to pause, breathe, and appreciate the beauty around us.
This courtyard, with its calming presence, is a must-visit for those seeking a moment of relaxation within our bustling campus.

When dawn was breaking, Sylvia quietly left her house and hurried through the woods. She finally reached an old pine tree, alongside which was flourishing undergrowth, complex enough to bewilder any invaders. With her bare feet and tiny fingers grabbing the rough trunk, Sylvia climbed to the top to locate precisely where the white
heron had hidden its nest. Suddenly, her eyes caught a flash of white. On a stretching branch just below her, a white heron was smoothing its feathers at leisure and cried to its mate dwelling on their nest nearby. As the golden sunrays struck the green woods, the heron fluttered its wings, hovering. Sylvia couldn’t help sighing at such harmony, knowing it was her calling to sustain...
About two hours later, Sylvia appeared back in the farm house, determined. Greeting her was the young man, who assumed she came to seal the 100-dollar deal. “You spotted it ” his intent eyes looked deeply into Sylvia’s gray ones. 100 dollars was genuinely a temptation, a big fortune she needed. Somehow the heron dumbed her. She had felt awed by how it lived the life she had dreamt of and how they witnessed the sunrise together from the top of the world. She could not unveil the heron’s secret, brutally depriving its natural freedom. The young man went away later that day, disappointed. Everything returned to normal, Sylvia wandering through the woods and flocks of birds singing freely.

Text 10
Good morning, children and parents. Welcome to the Children’s Club in our neighborhood. As the end of the school year is drawing near, we’ve prepared various gifts, such as stickers, books and pencils. To add more fun, we’ve hidden them for you to find around this center. Here’s the information you need to know. First of all, all children should put your names down at the desk, because you will be divided into several groups. Then, if you’re ready, preschool children will be going out of this front door and their parents should go together. Outside this door, you will see a flag as the marker for your area. There will be some helpers to direct you. If you are in the first to third grade, you’re going right outside that back door to search in the yard. The parents of this group are welcome to go with the children. Finally, the fourth graders, please, follow me down the hall through the double doors and to the other side of the center where you’ll be going to look for your gifts. There’s plenty for everyone.
