Many people think that the dinosaur(恐龙) is the biggest animal that ever lived. They are wrong. The world’s biggest animal is still living, and it lives in the sea. It is the blue whale. The blue whale can be more than 30 meters long and weighs about 150 tons.
The whale is not only the world’s biggest animal, but also one of the cleverest. We know that whales can talk to each other though we do not know what they are saying. We do not yet know how to speak to a whale. One day perhaps we shall learn to speak to whales, and then they will be able to tell us about themselves.

Whales are part of a family of animals called cetaceans(鲸类动物). They are animals that live in the sea. But unlike fish, they do not lay eggs. They have babies in the same way as cows and cats do, and give their babies milk.
Sadly, there are not many kinds of whales left. Man has killed them for thousands of years for food and other things. However, there are now laws to stop people killing most kinds of whales, so perhaps there will be more of them in the years to come.

The Wildlife Park has lots of different animals. Some are native(当地的) to Australia and can only be found there. There are a lot of animals there, including kangaroos(袋鼠), koalas and crocodiles(鳄鱼). The Wildlife Park has plenty of freshwater(淡水的) and saltwater crocodiles. Some of them are very big and scary with huge teeth! I did not want to get too close to them.

There was also a bird show. The keepers showed us different species(种类) of birds. I saw an old parrot(鹦鹉). It could “talk” and made a great impression on me.

Dear classmates,
Elephants are the largest mammals on land. They can live up to 80 years old. However, these days the number of elephants is becoming much smaller. Because people cut down forests, they are losing their homes. Also, people kill them for their ivory. Elephants are in great danger. I think we should try our best to protect them. First, we should help make rules to stop people from killing elephants. Second, we shouldn’t cut down trees. Third, we s houldn’t buy anything made of ivory.
I believe what we do can make a big difference.

Everyone knows that bees are busy. There is even an expression in English that one can be “as busy as a bee”. However, little is known about how bees play. Scientists have found one way that bees could relax after a busy day-they play with balls.
The scientists from a university in London did different tests on bees “playing” with different things. They found bees liked playing with small, wooden(木质的) balls best.

According to the scientists, the way bees play is a little like how humans play. Younger bees play with more balls than older bees and older males(雄性) spend longer playing with balls than older females.
The scientists took 45 bees to a test place. In this place, the bees had two ways to choose. The first was to fly or walk directly(直接地) to get sugar. The second was to get the sugar by going around different colored balls. The scientists found that most of the bees decided to play with the balls first and then get their sugar.
