三、 阅读理解。(每小题2分,共30分)
A
When I was in primary school, there was a special boy in my class. His name was Ted. He sat next to me. Ted had serious problems in communicating with people. One always had to guess what he was saying. And most of my classmates turned down being with him because his hands and shirts were always dirty. I tried to make him know the importance of being clean by telling him several times a day to wash his hands. But he just could not understand.

One day, our teacher Miss Miller walked up to Ted. Without saying anything, she took Ted to the washroom. Slowly, Miss Miller washed his hands and told him that he should keep himself clean. She did that every day for one month. Finally, Ted understood.
Miss Miller’s love has given me a good example to follow when I am doing my job. I always remember to teach my students by showing them the right ways to do things. And most important of all, I always remember to give them more time to learn and to grow up.

Fights at school sometimes happen. But how can you keep away from a fight? Here’s something you can do.
Be calm. Sometimes, you feel so angry that you really want to teach somebody a lesson. But being angry can’t solve problems. Neither can a fight. Instead, it may bring you more problems. In the school, everyone involved(卷入) in a fight will be punished, no matter who started it. There are no winners in a fight.

Shout loudly. If you know someone is coming up behind you to attack, turn toward the person with your hands up in front of your body and say “stop” loudly before walking away. A loud voice can usually make the attacker calm down. If the person doesn’t stop, cry for help by calling out the name of a teacher whose office is nearby.
▲ Your friend may ask you to join in a fight. Learn to say no. Helping him fight is not really helpful to him. If you really want to give him a hand, try to ask him to give it up. Also, you can tell him if he gets involved in a fight, he may get hurt and be punished. Then, try to learn why he wants a fight and help him find a right way to deal with the problem.

( D )6. From the second paragraph we know .

C(哈尔滨期中)
Fiona was a very popular girl at school. She was clever and fun, and got on well with everyone. It was no accident that Fiona was so popular. From an early age she had made an effort to be friendly to everyone. She invited the whole class to her birthday party, and from time to time she would give presents to everybody. She felt very lucky-no other student had so many friends at school.

But everything changed on National Friendship Day. On that day, everyone in class had to make three presents for their three best friends. However, when all the presents had been made and shared out among classmates, Fiona was the only one who had not received a present! She spent hours crying. How could it be possible? Everyone came and tried to console(安慰) her for a while. But each one only stayed for a short time before leaving.

When she got home that night, Fiona asked her mother where she could find true friends. “Fiona, my dear,” answered her mother, “you’re a lovely girl, but you can’t be a close friend to everybody. You cannot buy friends with a smile or a few good words.”
Hearing this, Fiona thought about her mother. Her mother was always ready to help her, and she bore all of Fiona’s dislikes and problems. She always forgave(原谅) her, and she loved her a lot ...That was what makes friends! Fiona smiled from ear to ear, realizing that she already had the best friend anyone could ever want.

五、 (阜新期中)阅读理解。(30分)
Now, more and more people have difficulty in falling asleep. “In fact, we can train our brains(大脑) to fall asleep,” says sleep expert Michael Grandner. Here are his suggestions.

Melatonin(褪黑激素) is produced by the body to control when you get sleepy and when you wake up. As night falls, the levels of melatonin rise, telling the body that it’s time for bed. And the levels usually fall as daylight comes near, getting you ready to welcome the day. The release(释放) of melatonin needs to be at regular(有规律的) times. So if your bedtime and wake-up time change from day to day, your body doesn’t know how to respond(作出反应). So it’s important to have a regular bedtime and wake-up time, even on weekends.
Make a plan and stick to it.

Don’t lie in bed awake(醒着的).
In fact, this way is very helpful. Whether it’s the beginning of the night or the middle of the night, if you’ve been awake for 20 or 30 minutes, get up. Maybe you just need five minutes to get sleepy, or maybe an hour, but don’t spend that time awake in bed.
Change your attitude(态度) to sleep.
Many people regard sleeping as the final thing in a busy day, so they would delay sleeping to do housework, schoolwork or others. That thought needs to be changed. Make sure your sleep time is enough in order to work better the next day. It may sound like a small change, but it’s an important one.

A. one B. two C. three D. four
