There used to be bees and butterflies dancing in the fields and fishes swimming in the rivers. But what a mess and a shame now! Beautiful scenery is gone and environmental pollution is worldwide. Pollution refers to many sorts of pollution around us, including air pollution, soil pollution,water pollution and noise pollution. Air pollution
Burning gas, oil and coal can produce harmful gas, such as So2 and Co2(Carbon dioxide), which can create air pollution. It is difficult for people to breathe in polluted air. It causes several breathing problems, like pains in our chests and throats and sore eyes, People cut down too many trees but they don't know plants can remove Co2 from the air to make oxygen. Too much Co2 causes the greenhouse effect on the earth. It causes the sea level to rise and the weather to be very hot and dry. Worst of all, So2 can seriously destroy ozone, a special kind of oxygen around the earth, and make a very big hole in the ozone layer. As a result, harmful radiation from the sun can reach the earth directly and that can cause skin cancer.
Soil and air pollution
Chemical factories pour waste water into the streams and land. People throw the batteries onto the ground directly. Air pollution can cause acid rain. All these can cause the soil and water pollution. Without water or forests, rivers and lakes will be thirsty and dead. Fish can't live in them. Trees and grass can't live on the land. Wind and rain water take the earth away and there is only sand left. The rich land will change into desert and sandstorms come into being. Villagers also apply chemicals into the fields.This is harmful to the soil. People can't avoid facing the shortage of water and food. Animals, including human beings, will die out completely from the earth sooner or later.
Noise pollution
Noise pollution was ignored by people before. Recently, by a video editor from the best-known media company in China, it was reported that nearly all the cars, printing machines, loud speakers, etc. are the makers of noise pollution. They make noise pollution per minute. It can disturb others and make people feel uncomfortable and unpleasant. It can also cause people to go sick or deaf and have hearing loss and high blood pressure as well.
How to prevent the pollution
In fact, all kinds of pollution are led to by humans. The environment is punishing humans now. If things go on like this, perhaps everybody can go nowhere and we can escape nowhere someday.
To solve the pollution, we humans must make the three R's -reduce, re.use and recycle- reality in our life. The government should set up more environmental protection organizations and pass laws against the pollution and especially carry out the laws really. For example, the government should shut off those polluting factories.We should discover new ways to get electricity and renewable energy,such as biogas technology and nuclear power. The sunlight, the wind waves and steam from deep in the earth are energy source and they will never run out.
As students, we should examine our daily actions. We should do what we can to protect the environment. For example:We should collect waste paper and soft drink cans. We should plant new trees to replace the old ones. And anybody should not be insects that bite leaves but planters.
We should use both sides of paper. We should take cloth bags instead of plastic ones when going shopping. We ought to refuse to be the users of excessive packaging goods or products, even a package of electric blankets.
We should give up those rude behaviors. Such as throwing rubbish or spitting here and there.
We with our colleagues had better walk or ride bikes instead of riding motorbikes to save gasoline if we travel a short distance. That can also help us take off our weight. As for along distance travel, we can use the energy-efficient trains without wheels as the Germans do, although it also has disadvantages- its guide paths require more money than traditional steel railways.
None of us can bear the awful situation. Nobody, including wild animals, would live in an untidy living place. With less pollution, our planet will become greener and our health will be better. Everyone should make a contribution to protecting our only planet.
