Dear Alison,
I'm Li Hua, the Chinese exchange student at your school. I'm writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for involving me in the recent “Tang and Song Poetry in My Eyes” speech contest. You know, Tang and Song poetry is like a dazzling pearl in the treasure trove of Chinese culture.
During the contest, I was truly amazed by the participants. Their interpretations of the poems were so vivid that it seemed as if the ancient poets were speaking through them. One student's recitation of Su Shi's “To the Tune of Water Melody” was so touching that it brought tears to my eyes. The atmosphere was electric, with everyone hanging on to every word. It was evident that this event had successfully kindled the interest of the local students in Chinese culture.

My name is Li Hua, and I'm an exchange student here. I'm so glad you asked for my feedback on the “Tang and Song Poetry in My Eyes” speech contest. It was an unforgettable experience.

I'm Li Hua, the exchange student from afar. I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to witness the “Tang and Song Poetry in My Eyes” speech contest. It was truly a remarkable event.
I was deeply impressed by the quality of the speeches. The students managed to capture the essence of the poems and translate them into their own words. A girl's speech on Li Qingzhao's poems was filled with delicate emotions, making us feel the poet's sorrow and joy. The event also fostered a sense of community, as everyone came together to appreciate something beautiful.
Here are my suggestions. First, it would be great if you could have a pre-contest workshop on Chinese calligraphy related to the poems, adding an artistic touch. Thank you for your excellent organization of the speech contest, “Tang Poetry and Song Ci in My Eyes”. The event showcased the spellbound charm of Chinese culture and demonstrated the students' passion for poetry.
A poor insight into the historical context behind the poems，however, made it a great challenge for the students to express themselves. Therefore, it is preferable to add training on relevant background knowledge before the contest.
Interactive activities, such as Q & A sessions on Chinese poetry knowledge or live interpretations are also highly recommended to enhance engagement, making the contest more dynamic and enabling every individual to have a good taste for the beauty of poetry.
