资源简介

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I was used to correcting my school essays with some red-ink marks until I met my high schoolEnglish teacher, Rachel Green. For our writing assignments, Ms. Green would write two-page letters with praise and feedback. I had never had a teacher who was so thoughtful and careful with my writing. I didn’t know what to call it at the time, but reflecting back, she was giving us professional remarks.
I loved writing. It was a hobby. But Ms. Green was determined to make me an author. Her comments were more than just about fixing grammatical errors. She wrote questions to make my essays more detailed; she underlined passages that she agreed with. Her letters always started with how proud she was that I was brave enough to write the truth, how she saw potential in me. I savored(品味) her words—read them over and over.
I needed this care, this recognition. I was the last Watson child to attend Jefferson High School. My sister Cheryl was known for being one of the star writers of the school newspaper. Trisa, another sister, had participated in two study-abroad programs and even helped her peers in Spanish. Dyan, another sister, was good at playing the piano. My sisters were involved in all types of after-school activities cheer-leading, volleyball, track and student government. While I was the little one following them like a shadow. No one noticed my existence except Ms. Green.
Adjusting to high school was challenging, and I felt insecure. On the first day of my highschool, a teacher greeted me with a hug, saying, “You have some big shoes to fill.” Then she showed me the trophy(奖杯) case in the hallway. I immediately recognized several: Cheryl, Trisa, and Dyan. I was inspired, yes, but mostly worried. My Spanish was so-so. I got good grades but was not a 4.0 student. I loved music, but I wasn’t good at playing any musical instrument. Worse still, I never dared to share my story in front of my class. I tried to walk in my sisters’ shoes, but they didn’t fit. I tried to follow their steps, but it’s too hard, really.

写作示例:
One day, Ms. Green invited me to read my new story in front of my class in the writing lesson next week. My heart instantly plummeted. The mere thought of standing exposed before my peers sent shivers down my spine. I stammered my reluctance, citing my crippling stage fright. But Ms. Green simply patted my shoulder and promised to guide me every step of the way. That week was a whirlwind of rehearsals. She dissected my story, coached my intonation, and bolstered my confidence bit by bit. When the fateful moment arrived, my legs trembled as I ascended the podium. Yet, locking eyes with Ms. Green's beaming face, a newfound courage surged within me. As the last word left my lips, thunderous applause erupted, and I beamed with a sense of accomplishment I'd never known.
30 years later, when I did become a best-selling author, I decided to visit Ms. Green. As I stepped into the familiar classroom, now filled with a fresh batch of eager faces, a wave of nostalgia washed over me. Ms. Green looked up, her eyes clouded with momentary confusion. The instant recognition dawned, her face transformed into a picture of sheer delight. I rushed into her arms, tears welling up uncontrollably. I poured out my gratitude, recounting how her faith had been my anchor through the stormy seas of self-doubt. She wept softly, her pride palpable. As I walked away that day, I carried with me the enduring warmth of her mentorship, vowing to pay it forward, for a single teacher's belief can truly change a life.
参考答案
One day, Ms. Green invited me to read my new story in front of my class in the writing lesson next week. My heart skipped a beat and disbelief washed over me. I grunted my anxiety about being laughed at. Stroking my hair gently, Ms. Green assured me that my story full of fantasy would win everyone’s heart. Days seemed to be minutes. In a flash, the big day came! My heart beating wildly and palms sweaty, I wobbled onto the platform, took out my manuscript and stammered out my story. At first, someone teased me about my stutter. But as the afternoon sun ca st a gentle glow through the window, gradually everyone got immersed in the fantasy world of my story. No sooner had I finished my story than my class burst into a round of thunderous applause. Eyes sparkling with pride, Ms. Green grinned from ear to ear, saying excitedly to me, “You are bound to be a great author and believe in yourself.”
30 years later, when I did become a best-selling author, I decided to visit Ms. Green. The moment I saw grey-haired Ms. Green, tears of gratitude welled up in my eyes and later I presented my newly-published book to her, adding emotionally, “Ms. Green, hadit not been for your encouragement, I wouldn’t be where I am.” She hugged me tightly in her arms, whispering in my ear, “Your own faith and efforts really count. You don’t have to walk in others’ shoes or follow their steps.” The breeze blowing and the birdssinging, in her garden we two recalled our golden days in Jefferson High School. Deep in my mind, I knew I could walk in my own shoes and become the best version of myself, the unique version of myself.
