I'm ecstatic to announce that I emerged victorious in the Festivals of China Retold in English Challenge! The moment I received the award, my heart swelled with pride and gratitude. Now, I'd like to pass on some tips that helped me along the way.
I made it a point to attend the English Corner at least three times a week. Initially, I struggled to find the right words, but I didn't give up. I listened attentively to others and mimicked their intonation. Over time, I could hold engaging conversations. Additionally, I took part in an English drama club. Acting out scenes in English not only boosted my confidence but also enhanced my fluency.
To truly grasp Chinese traditional culture, I read a variety of ancient books. The Analects provided me with philosophical insights that I wove into my festival tales. I also visited historical museums frequently. Standing in front of a centuries-old embroidery display, I was in awe of the craftsmanship and the cultural significance behind it. Moreover, chatting with my grandparents about Dragon Boat Festival legends gave me unique perspectives.

Hi there! I'm thrilled to share that I won the Festivals of China Retold in English Challenge. It was an arduous yet rewarding journey, and I'm eager to share my secrets with you.
For oral English improvement, I was a regular at the English Corner. Every Friday and Saturday afternoon, I'd rush there. At first, I was shy and hesitant, but as I interacted with more classmates, I became bolder. I even participated in a few small-scale English speech competitions. Preparing for them taught me how to structure my arguments and communicate effectively.
When it came to understanding Chinese traditions, I started with classic literature. Reading Classic of Mountains and Rivers, I was fascinated by the ancient myths and legends, which I later used to enrich my festival presentations. I also went on field trips to local folk museums. Watching artisans make paper-cutting works, I was captivated by the dexterity of their hands and the cultural connotations. And don't forget to talk to your family elders. My grandma told me all about the significance of the Lantern Festival traditions, which added authenticity to my stories.

I'm delighted to let you know that I clinched the title in the Festivals of China Retold in English Challenge. It's been an incredible experience, and I hope my story can inspire you.
I actively engaged in the English Corner twice a week. There, I met students from different grades and backgrounds. We discussed various topics, and through this, my speaking ability skyrocketed. I also joined an English debate team. Debating in English forced me to think on my feet and express myself precisely.
To dig deep into Chinese traditional culture, I read some famous ancient works like Records of the Grand Historian. The historical events and figures I learned from it gave my festival descriptions a solid foundation. I visited cultural heritage sites as well. Standing on the Great Wall, I could feel the weight of history and understand how festivals evolved over time. And seeking advice from my parents about New Year's Eve customs was invaluable. Their memories and explanations made my stories more vivid.

I’m Li Hua, who was the champion in the Festivals of China Retold in English Challenge. At the request of the English club of our school, I would like to share my experience of improving my oral English and learning about traditional Chinese culture with you.
First of all, when it comes to spoken English, the best way to improve it is to practice listening and speaking as much as you can. Besides, what is considered an effective approach is to participate in beneficial activities like “English Corner” or English speech competitions. As for understanding Chinese culture from multiple perspectives, you’d better read traditional Chinese classic books and search for related videos online.
I sincerely hope that you can make great progress in your speaking and broaden your horizons through constant efforts.
