【洪水灾难】(2024 贵港模拟)While we were away, a flood caused by a storm hit our neighborhood and damaged our town. In our basement, we tried to pull old photo albums and school years-years' worth of memories-out of the water and piled them into bags. Actually, there was little we could save. But I noticed a pattern. I found myself shouting, now and then, "I forgot we had this!" Obviously, in a year or two, I wouldn't be able to keep track of the things lost versus the rescued items.
【春日闲暇】(2024 观山湖区校级模拟)On a cool spring evening, I found myself leisurely seated by a refreshment stand near Beihai Lake, enjoying the sight of shining ripples. The subtle fragrance of leaves in the breeze immersed me in the liveliness of life. Across from me, a woman and her young daughter shared a moment; the child, a charming little figure of about seven or eight with an upturned nose, was occupied with her ice cream, her mother holding the girl's coat, whispering sweet nothings.
Susan Baur, a swimmer, ducks into the water. She surfaces, holding a pair of swimming goggles(护目镜). These are passed to a kayaker(皮划艇桨手), who waves them back, like a prize, before throwing them in a basket. When the team return s to shore, the women are smiling and cracking jokes about the dive and their pull.
【车站意外】(2024 邵阳模拟)On the platform, something unthinkable happened:a man fell over the edge and onto the electrified train tracks! As Perry and other horrified passengers watched, he shook uncontrollably as the current moved through his body. "Help him!"someone cried. "Please, someone!" Perry couldn't just stand there and watch. He sat at the edge of the platform and eased himself down. Assuming all rails between the man and him were electrified, he quickly leaped towards the victim, using a high-knee technique from his high school football days. Perry soon reached down and grasped the victim's wrist. Instantly, he felt a powerful electric shock shoot through his body. Perry jumped back. He reached down a second time, and was shocked again. But the third time he seized the man's wrist and forearm, and managed to move the guy's body away from the rails.
【雪夜车祸】(2024 泰安二模)It was January 2016, when dark clouds hid the day. Jeremy and his girlfriend, Molei Wright, were driving for a weekend of fun with friends on the slopes in Breckenridge, Colorado. They were two like-minded Colorado natives: ambitious and active, both lovers of books, music, the outdoors. They'd been together for less than a year, but it had taken only a few dates to realise that they could be well matched. As the car began the winding climb toward the destination, the snow came earlier than they'd expected, but Jeremy wasn't worried. He'd driven this route a thousand times, and he knew exactly what to do. However, a truck hit them. One minute, Jeremy's car was rolling smoothly through the falling snow; the next, he found himself pinned to his seat by the wheel and he screamed with pain. To his right he saw Molei:who was injured seriously, without motion and reaction. Jeremy fell into despair.
【山间见闻】(2024 菏泽模拟)As the shadows started to lengthen, we moved further up. Soon, weariness began to outpace enthusiasm. We decided to return. Instead of backtracking over our original route, I chose to walk down the steep (陡峭的) side of the hill, trusting my general sense that ahead of us lay the stream that would guide us to the road. But as the terrain (地形) leveled out, I had my first major moment of doubt: Where was the stream Were we off course
【旅游见闻】(2024 湖北二模)I'm sitting impatiently in our dusty car looking out. My travel buddy, Lucas, having taken in enough of the view, has gone to speak with someone from one of the nearby tourist souvenir huts. After ages, he walks towards me, carrying some sausages, hot water, a new cowboy hat, and a big grin on his face. "We're giving a man a ride, " he tells me.
【旧衣乐事】(2024 太原三模)One morning, I was putting on this long-sleeved shirt for the family trip when my wife noticed a hole in the elbow(肘部). She advised me to sew it or it would get worse. But it was so tiny. I decided to ignore it and went to reach for the backpack at the top of my closet when I heard the rip"sss-"Was that. . . I reached for the closet door and slid it shut. Riiippp again. The tiny hole became a big tear, leaving my arm exposed. "Now you look like a scarecrow(稻草人), " My wife laughed. "Maybe you should throw it away."
【客人做客】(2024 泰州一模)Our first guests arrived: three foreign exchange students. Mom's original plan was to host one. But she was told those unable to go home sometimes broke down in tears, so here came three. The next guests burst through the door, a single mom and her six kids. With more guests, the volume and the temperature in the house instantly rose. Luckily, dinner was ready before the house or I exploded. However, seeing my name card placed among the six kids, I murmured angrily, "How would I get such an unlucky seat?"
【交通事故】(2024 韶关模拟)On a hot afternoon Rhiannon was driving her old van down the highway. As she rolled down her window to let in some fresh air, her car registration paper blew off the sun visor (防晒板) and onto the floor inside. When leaning down to grab it, she accidentally drifted into oncoming traffic, in panic, she over-corrected and pulled the wheel sharply in the other direction. Consequently, the van rolled over three times, and Rhiannon was thrown onto the road, lying in the middle of the road and bleeding, nearly unconscious.
