一、教材分析
What: 本课时语音练习及一篇对话篇章。语音部分任务1主要介绍了字母a及字母组合ai、ay、al及aw的发音规则,,任务2主要介绍了名词复数末尾二s/es的发音规则,任务2主要练习了句子的重读与弱读。对话篇章主要是主要围绕Peter、Fu Xing和Teng Fei三人对企鹅的讨论展开,表达了对企鹅的喜爱,并询问喜欢它们的原因。讨论了企鹅的生活习性和企鹅的食物来源,并因Fu Xing手中的鱼肉三明治而引发了一场关于不要给动物喂食的讨论。
Why: 通过本课时的学习让学生在真实的语境中学习和掌握关于动物喜好的相关词汇和表达方式,同时,通过对话中提到的企鹅的生活习性和食物来源等话题,引导学生关注动物的生活环境和生存需求,培养学生的动物保护意识。

二、教学内容
1. 掌握字母a及字母组合ai、ay、al、aw的发音;掌握名词的复数形式变化规则及发音规则;掌握单词的弱读规律。
2. 能运用所学单词和句式介绍某种动物的样子、习性等。
三、教学目标
1. 掌握以下重点单词及短语:
penguin、Antarctica、cute、lovely、sea animals
2. 掌握下列句型:
What’s your favourite animal
Why do you like them so much
Where are they from?
What do they eat?
What does it look like
3. 能根据对话信息提取重点内容,并分类,归纳总结。
4.通过对企鹅等动物的讨论和学习,激发学生对动物的喜爱之情,培养他们对动物保护的意识。
5.鼓励学生通过与同伴交流自己喜欢的动物,提高学生的合作学习能力和沟通能力。
四、教学重难点
重点:掌握与企鹅相关的词汇和短语,如 penguin、Antarctica、swim fast、stand close together 等。
运用重点句型询问和描述动物的特征、栖息地、饮食习惯和能力等。
难点:理解并正确运用 help sb. (to) do sth、keep +宾语+形容词等短语。
培养学生的听力理解能力和口语表达能力,使其能够准确地获取信息并进行交流。

六、教学过程
Step 1 Greeting and lead-in
T: Good morning, class. How are you, today?
Ss: Fine, thanks. And you?
T: I’m fine too. Today, we’ll learn phonetic symbols that can help us pronounce.

Step 2 Pronunciation
Work on 1
(1)Listen and conclude.
Play the pronunciation of the following words: game;make;fat;cat and let students repeat.
T: What pronunciation does “a” have in the word?
Ss: /e / and / /.
T: Great. They all have /i:/. Now, add one more word to the two groups.
Conclude the other ai/ay/al/aw in the same way.
(2)Practice
Show the pictures of the words: game, make, fat, cat, rain, brain, way, play, walk, small, draw, law and let students say out their pronunciation quickly. Teacher can divide students into two groups and the faster group won the game.

一般来说,句子中传达重要意义的实词常常重读,重读时,单词的音会发得更高、更长和更响亮。在句子中起粘合作用的助动词、代词、连词、冠词,情态动词等常常弱读,弱读时,音发得短而快。
Step 3 Listening(Work on 2a)
1. Predicting.
Ask students look at the picture in 2a and answer the following questions.
(1)What animal is in the picture?
(2)What do you think of the animal?

2. Look through the conversation quickly. And pay attention to the coloured words.
3. Listen to the conversation and circle the coloured words.
Step 4 Reading(Work on 2b)
1. Let students read the conversation and grab the key information and finish the table in 2b.
2. Check the answers.

Step 5 Speaking(Work on 2c)
1. Let students read the conversation and underlined the words they think should be unstressed.
2. Listen to the conversation again and pay attention to the unstressed words to check if their underlined words are right. 3. Role-play the conversation in pair.
4. Choose some students show in class and choose the best pairs according to their pronunciation, tone and fluency.

1. Match the headers (1—5) in 2b with the questions (A—E) and explain the reason.

1. Complete a card about students’ favourite animal, including name, looks , home, food and ability.

Step 8 Work on 2f
Give some pictures of some animals and let students choose their favourite animals to make a conversation practice according to the questions in 2d.

B: It’s very big and grey. It has a long nose and big ears.
A: Where does it usually live
B: It usually lives in Africa.

B: It eats grass, leaves and fruits.
