Lead-in. The teacher organizes students to play the game of “Squat Animals”. Sa: Panda down, panda down, panda down then tiger down. Then, ss enjoy a video to learn some knowledge about penguins. They talk about what they’ve known. Sa: The penguin is from Antarctic. Sb: Penguins are black and white. Step 2. Listening Let Ss observe the picture in 2a. Ask some questions to lead Ss to predict the content of the conversation. 1.What animals can you see 2.Where are they 3.What is the girl doing Play the recording twice and ask Ss to circle the colored words they hear. Then explain some key words to help ss understand the conversation better. Step 3. Reading 1.Read and answer the questions: (1) Why does Peter like penguins best Because they’re very cute. (2) How do penguins go through the winter They often stand close together to keep themselves warm. (3) Can they eat fish sandwich Why No, they can’t. Fish sandwich isn’t good for them. 2. Speaking Ask Ss to work with their group members to play the roles of the conversation. Offer the criteria. Three minutes later, invite two groups to show their conversation.
