Though trees cannot speak, Evan Luchkow, a 32-year-old Canadian director, made ancient tea trees the main characters in his latest film, The Tree Listens. The film allows them to "tell" their story about "communicating" with the local people in Chashu Village, Southwest China's Chongqing.
When the Canadian walked into the village, surprises kept coming. It is a quiet village that planted tea trees thousands of years ago. The local tea trees are so tall that people need ladders（梯子）to pick their leaves. Besides, people in the village live a peaceful and happy life in harmony（和谐）with nature. That also struck him. "In Canada, the protection of nature sometimes keeps people away from it. I never thought they can live together. On our way into this village, I saw lots of houses hugged by the trees, which was truly. surprising," says Luchkow. He adds, "The scene was so beautiful, just like a picture' postcard which you know must be sent from China."
Soon he was able to set the tone（基调）for the film, which shows a silent dialogue between trees and people. The boy from Hangzhou, together with several other students, started the project "The Invisible（隐形的）Are Significant". They hoped more students would respect the "invisible" staff in the school. "It shows that students treat non-teaching staff differently from teaching staff."
