Step 1Lead in 1. Show some pictures of different animals on the screen and ask students to name them in English.2. Play a short video about a zoo to arouse students' interest and lead in the topic. To name the animals’ names in English.
Step 2 Group discussion Ask Ss work in group to take turns to think of an animal and describe it. The others in the group try to guess the animal and write it down in the table. To work in group to describe and guess the animal.
Step 3 Zoo design 1. Let each group selects some of the animals from the previous discussion for their zoo.2. Ask students to give reasons for their choices and discuss how to arrange the animals in the zoo. To choose the animals in the zoo and give some reasons.
Step 4 Map drawing 1. Students draw a map of their zoo on a piece of paper.2. Encourage them to be creative and add some details such as paths, signs, and food stalls. To draw the map of your own zoo, and add some details.
Step 5 Presentation 1. Each group takes turns to present their designed zoo to the class.2. Other groups can ask questions or givecomments. To introduce your zoo and give some comment to others’ painting.
