I. Learning Objectives
Students can correctly spell and use key words such as “unhappy”, “practice”, “focus”, etc., as well as key phrases like “have to”, “hang out”, “focus on”, etc. They can understand and master the meaning and structure of long and difficult sentences in the text, and accurately translate them, such as “After school, there are even more rules!”.
Students can use the learned vocabulary and sentence patterns to describe the rules in daily life and express their opinions on rules. Improve students' reading comprehension ability, enabling them to obtain key information from the text and answer relevant questions.
Guide students to recognize the importance of rules and cultivate students' awareness of abiding by rules.

III. Teaching Procedures
Introduction
Through Free talk, ask students “What are some of the rules in your home What do you think about them ” to guide students to share their family rules and opinions, thus leading to the topic of rules in this class.
Knowledge Explanation
Review the key words and phrases in the PPT, asking students to state their meanings and usages; analyze the long and difficult sentences in the text, such as “After school, there are even more rules!”, explaining the sentence structure and translation methods; distinguish the usage of modal verbs with the help of examples.
Reading Training
Ask students to read Alice's letter to Dr Know and answer the questions in 1b; read again and complete the problem notes of Alice in 1c; guide students to circle the fixed phrases and structures and discuss their usages.
Practice and Consolidation
Students complete 2a, filling in the blanks with “can”, “have to/must”, “can’t/mustn’t”; work in pairs, choose three rules from 2a and discuss the questions in 2b.
Writing Improvement
Assign homework, asking students to write a composition of more than 80 words, “My class rules”, combining what they have learned with the content of 2b and 2c.
