Getting to Know the Plants Around us
Looking back to last week, I, together with my classmates, participated in a meaningful activity themed with Getting to Know the Plants Around us, which turned out to be considerably worthwhile.
After all preparations had been made, we gathered at the school gate and set out for a nearby botanical garden in high spirits. Immersed in a delightful atmosphere, we were feasting on colorful and distinctive plants and also appreciating different characteristics of various plants all the way. The moment a professional teacher proficient in botany shared some interesting plant knowledge with us, a colorful world unfolded before our eyes, which kept us spellbound.
Time went by quickly before we knew it. Exhausted as we were, our hearts were filled with delight. The activity benefited us a lot, which provided us with a chance to build up our bodies and get close to nature. What a wonderful day! (This activity kept me well informed of the plants around me, gave me a good view of the amazing world of plants and the impressive beauty of nature as well.)

I’m privileged/ honored to stand here to deliver my speech. As we all know, our planet is our beautiful home, where wildlife and humans should have lived together harmoniously. However, more and more wildlife is faced with extinction, whose habitats are becoming smaller as new roads and railways were built. Even worse, to make profit, hunters are killing wildlife. Many animals are being butchered/ killed to meet buyers’ need, causing their population to drop increasingly.
It’s high time that we should change our way of life and stop hunting wildlife. If everyone avoid buying any products made from wildlife, the killing can stop, too. Only when we learn to exist in harmony with nature can we stop being a threat to our planet.
