1、比较级和最高级的定义
比较级用于描述两者在某个方面相比,一个比另一个 “更加......”;最高级用于三个及以上个体当中,哪个个体在某方面“最......”。
2、形容词、副词的级。
形容词、副词有原级,比较级,最高级之分,不进行比较时用原级,两者比较用比较级,三者及三者以上用最高级。

3. 形容词、副词比较级和最高级的构成
构成方式 例词
规则变化 单音节和部分双音节词 一般在词尾加-er,-est small→smaller→smallest

以不发音的字母e结尾的词,加-r,-st large→larger→largest
以两个辅音字母加一个元音字母结尾的重读闭音节词,双写词尾的辅音字母,再加-er,-est big→bigger→biggest

以"辅音字母+y"结尾的词,变y为i,再加-er,-est ugly→uglier→ugliest

少数以er或ow结尾的双音节词,词尾加-er,-est narrow→narrower→narrowest
多音节 其他双音节词和多音节词及分词形容词,在词前加more,most important→more important→most important quickly →more quickly →most quickly
不规则变化的情况(常见的如下)
bad/ill/badly→worse→worst;much/many→more→most;
good/well→better→best;far→farther/further→farthest/furthest;old→older/elder→oldest /eldest;little→less→least
【注意】
1. farther/farthest和further/furthest的区别:二者表示距离时,往往可互换,但是用于引申义,表示程度时,只能使用后者。
eg:He can throw much farther/further than you. 他可以比你扔得远得多。
4. 两个事物进行比较的基本结构:
“A + 谓语动词 + 比较级 + than + B”,表示 “A 比 B 更……”。
eg:My sister is taller than me.我姐姐比我高。
He runs faster than his brother.他跑得比他哥哥快。
比较级前可以用:far(远), even(甚至), much(许多), still(更,还), a lot(许多), a little / bit(一点), rather(相当地), slightly(略微), three times(三倍)等修饰,用来加强比较的程度,表示 “…… 得多”“甚至更……” 等。
eg:This book is much more interesting than that one.这本书比那本书有趣得多。
It's even colder today than yesterday.今天甚至比昨天更冷。
【拓展】比较级的其他句型:
①比较级+and+比较级 “越来越……”
eg:The weather is getting colder and colder. 天气越来越冷。
②the+比较级, the+比较级 “越……,就越……”
eg:The more you practice,the better you get. 你练习得越多,就变得越好。
The harder you work, the better your grades will be.你学习越努力,成绩就会越好。
5. 三个及以上事物进行比较的基本结构:
A + 谓语动词 + the + 最高级 + 比较范围 A 在…… 中是最…… 的
比较范围由 of 或 in 来表示,of 后接同类事物的复数名词或代词,in 后接比较的范围或场所。
eg:Tom is the tallest of all the boys.汤姆是所有男孩中最高的。
This is the most expensive dress in the shop.这是商店里最贵的裙子。
【拓展】最高级的其他句型:
可用“one of the+最高级+名词复数”表示“最……之一”,
eg: Mount Everest is one of the highest mountains in the world. 珠穆朗玛峰是世界上最高的山之一。

Dear schoolmates,
The Yellow River is known as Chinese people’s “mother river”. It’s about 5, 464 kilometers long. It is the second longest river in our country and runs through nine provinces.
However, the Yellow River is in a poor situation. The water and soil loss is very serious. And the water is badly polluted. Also, water shortages are even more worrying. So it’s important for us to protect it.
Firstly, we should stop fishing. Secondly, our government must make laws to protect our mother river. Thirdly, we should plant more trees on both sides of the river. And we should pick up rubbish along the river to keep it clean.
