It’s a total solar eclipse.

How is a total solar eclipse formed
The total solar eclipse happens when the moon comes between the sun and the earth. The moon blocks（挡住） the sun’s light completely（完全地）. So, we can’t see the sun but a dark circle in the sky.
On July 22, 2009, a total solar eclipse happened in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River（长江中下游地区）.
People in cities like Chengdu,Wuhan, Chongqing, Hefei and Shanghai could watch this total eclipse.
