The Museum of Macau
The Museum of Macau is in the famous Monte Fortress, the heart of the city and where the Portuguese first set foot, which was begun in 1996 and completed and opened to the public on April 18th of 1998.

I live in a small village. Some time ago, I noticed that in each election cycle the same candidates (候选人) would run and get elected, sometimes unopposed. There were no changes, no new businesses starting up, and no growth at all.
Having daughters in high school I felt I had my finger on the: “pulse” of a younger generation. I listened to their ideas about what could be better in our village, or why they had to go one town over to use the new skateboard park or have a burger at a new diner. And that was the moment when I, a single mother of three, thought about running in the upcoming election to become a Village Trustee. I felt that the issue of economic development needed to be addressed to relieve the pressure of rising property taxes on the residents.
So, I gathered up my courage and picked up documents from Village Hall on running for election. I did some serious research and turned to friends who had run in various town elections before to make sure I chose the correct petition (请愿书), filled it out accurately, and got the right number of signatures.
I believed that God helps those who help themselves. After filing my paperwork, I received support. Friends called to offer to put my signs on their lawns. One friend even created and maintained a website for me, where I could post my profile, mission statement, and information about free healthcare events and elderly services.
When I walked in the Good Neighbor Parade as a newly elected official, the crowd cheered for me. Knowing that so many people believed in me and wanted me to help them achieve good things for their hometown was an incredible feeling.
Finding the courage to run in a small-town election changed my outlook on life. It gave me hope that dreams can come true and small ideas can grow into something big.

For four decades, there’s been an invisible hand guiding the way we write, work, and communicate: Microsoft Word.
Upon its launch in 1983, this software was first known as Multi-Tool Word, before being renamed Microsoft Word for Dos. By 1994, Microsoft says it had occupied a 90% share of the word-processing market, securing its position as one of the most successful software products in history.
Word’s spell-checker and grammar features have evolved into subtle judges of language. When typing on Word, the software can automatically correct your spelling, and make suggestions for what to write next. These suggestions aren’t based on your personal writing style and tone — they’re rule-based. Writers might unintentionally abandon their unique voices and expressions. For those trying to learn a language, or even get better at their native tongue, features such as autocorrect have been-found to have a negative impact on student’s writing abilities and spelling skills.
Based on a quick experiment, if Harper Lee had used Word to write To Kill a Mockingbird, the software would have suggested changing: “I never loved to read. One does not love breathing,” to “I never loved to read. Breathing is necessary.” Does this remove the poetry and. depth of the original The illustration is somewhat facetious, but it shows the effects using such tools can have.
As artificial intelligence is integrated into word processing, a potential over-dependence on automation could discourage users from actively learning. Alternatively, AI may free people up to be even more creative. Its ability to learn and understand a person’s unique writing style could lead to an era of highly personal, unlimited imagination. The ultimate impact depends on how individuals and communities choose to use this powerful tool.

Space is a very unfriendly place for humans to live in. Whether you’re in the sunlight or not, it’s either extremely cold or super hot. There are also many hidden dangers. Even though astronauts have oxygen and a stable temperature provided by their spacecraft, they seem to get sick more easily the longer they stay away from Earth.
A report published on October 22nd; 2024, by the Guy Foundation, a British non-profit organization that studies the connections between physics and biology, has found new possible health risks for astronauts. This report, which is based on several recent research studies, says that long space trips or living on other planets might be even harder for humans than we thought before. The main worry is the harm that space travel seems to do to mitochondria (线粒体). Mitochondria are in nearly every cell and are in charge of making the energy that makes the cell work. The report suggests that this could be the reason for many of the health problems seen in astronauts, like problems with the immune system and heart and blood vessel diseases. The report also says that astronauts go through something like “faster ageing”, which is connected to the stop of the cell’s energy production.
The report also gives several possible reasons for the mitochondria not working properly. Some are well-known in today’s science. For example, radiation can directly harm cells. Others are more like guesses. Free-fall is one possible reason. The report shows some new evidence that the pull of the Earth’s gravity might be very important for different processes that happen in cells. The lights in spacecraft are also under observation. Right now, they don’t have the full spectrum (光谱) of sunlight. Since we know that sunlight controls our body’s sleep and wake cycle and might affect other body functions, this could be a problem.
Some problems might be fixed by using technology. We could build lunar bases underground to keep away from radiation, and we could change the lighting to be more like sunlight. A more ambitious idea would be to change humans instead of just where they live. Sir Martin Rees, who is an astronomer and used to be the president of the Royal Society, has always said that humans are not suitable for space travel. He thinks that making a new species through genetic engineering might be a, better way to go to other planets.
