Some background information
SPACE PROBES
They are often sent to places that are too far away or too dangerous for a human to set foot in .For example, China plans to launch its first Mars probe and the Chang'e-5 probe to bring lunar samples back to Earth in 2020.
astronaut
A person who has een trained for travelling in spacecraft
Astronauts ont only had to learn how to use space equipment, but also had to do a lot of mental and physical training.
The space shuttle
It was created as a reusable launch vehicle to carry astronauts and other equipment into space and back again. The shuttle looks like an ordinary plane but it has a cargo bay that is large enough to hold a satellite.
the international space station
It was too big to build on Earth and launch into space, so different countries worked together and built about 100 modules. Afterwards, these modules were joined together in space to provide living quarters, laboratories and other equipment for astronauts to live for months.
