Les Brown was born in Miami, Floride on February 17, 1945. After giving birth to Brown and his twin brother, Wes, Brown’s biological mother gave her sons up for adoption when they were six weeks old to Mrs. Mamie Brown, a single woman who had very little education and few financial means, but a very big heart.
As a child, his inattention to school work, his restless energy and the failure of his teachers to evaluate his real potential resulted in his being mislabeled as mentally undeveloped. Brown was forced back from grade 6 to grade 5. The label and the shame stayed with Brown, damaging his confidence to such an extent that it took several years to overcome.
As a teenager, Brown attended Booker T. Washington High School, where he was influenced by a speech and drama instructor who urged him to pursue a career in radio broadcasting. While Brown had no formal education beyond high school, encouragement from his mother strengthened his resolve to struggle for his dream. He started a process of unending self-education which distinguished him as an authority on human potential. Brown’s passion to learn and his hunger to realize greatness in himself and others helped him to achieve greatness.
In 1989, Brown was the receiver of the National Speakers Association’s highest honor. In 1990, Brown recorded his first in a series of speech presentations entitled “You Deserve”, which was awarded a Chicago-area Emmy and became the leading fund-raising program of its kind nationwide. He is also the author of the highly honored and successful book, Live Your Dreams, and host of The Les Brown Show, a nationally associated television talk show which focused on solutions rather than problems.

The toy company Toys “R” Us premiered (首次公演) a short promotional film at the 2024 Cannes Lions Festival in France this week that was created almost entirely by using OpenAI’s new text-to-video tool — Sora.
Several months ago, OpenAI — the company behind the viral ChatGPT chatbot — introduced the AI model Sora, which it claimed can create realistic and imaginative videos from quick text clues. It said that the tool is capable of producing videos up to 60 seconds and can serve up scenes with multiple characters, specific types of motion and detailed background details.
The entertainment studio of Toys “R” Us partnered with creative agency Native Foreign, which had early access to Sora, to create this film. In addition to Sora, it used some corrective visual effects and an original music score. Toys “R” Us said it was the first brand to run a film using the technology.
Kim Miller, CMO of Toys “R” Us Creative studios, told CNN the concept was born when she was involved in a brand storytelling group and that she wanted to do something “fun” and “different” for their next project, which included the origin story of the founder. After Native Foreign became an early tester of Sora, chief creative officer Nik Klevorov called Miller with the proposal to join forces.
“Everything you see was created with text, including the blocking, the way the character looks, what they’re wearing, the emotion, the background,” Klevorov said. “Sometimes you would create something that was almost right and other times not so right. There was a lot of back and forth. There was also a lot of checking and human involvement throughout the process.”
Miller said, “It was a lot of learning. It was an educational process.” Miller believes the best approach to understanding technology is to actually experience it, rather than just follow what you’re hearing from other people. “The same is true for AI,” she said.
