We can see circles, squares and triangles everywhere in our daily life. Have you thought about their meanings in films Much like colors, different shapes can show different features (特点) of characters in the scenes.
Circles represent (代表) things that are soft and natural. The round shape reminds us of things that appear in nature, like the sun, raindrops and so on. We can also connect circles with beautiful eyes and babies' round faces. All these things make us feel happy and warm. Many cartoon characters' bodies are round in shape, because circles represent goodness.
Squares show things that are unnatural or man made, or things that are boring or old fashioned. In Up, Carl has a square face and wears square glasses, while Russell always wears round medals. These shapes show the characters' personalities. Carl is stubborn (执拗的) and lonely.
The angriest shape is the triangle. Every kid who draws a monster with sharp teeth draws a row of triangles. That's because the shape represents fear, distrust and doubt in some way. Look at the bad guys in cartoons—they are all drawn with plenty of points and triangles, like Shengongbao in Ne Zha. And triangles are stable (稳固的) and don't easily fall down. In films, this feature makes bad people difficult to deal with.
Not only in cartoons, but also in other kinds of films, different shapes are used for the same purpose. So, try to find the hidden shapes and you will know what the characters are like.

Repeat these steps for each helper.

According to a study published in February in the magazine Science of the Total Environment, hermit crabs (寄居蟹) are using plastic litter as shells(壳).
Zuzanna Jagiello is the study's leader. “A hermit crab in a plastic shell could be a symbol of our times, a period in which human activity has had a main effect on the environment,” Jagiello told TIME for Kids. “They don't have homes, so they use rubbish.”
Hermit crabs' action of using plastic waste as shells is one example of that effect. To protect themselves from hunters, the crabs usually wear seashells. But according to February's study, at least 386 hermit crabs have been seen wearing plastic. Of the world's 16 kinds of hermit crabs that live on land, 10 have been seen wearing litter.
Jagiello says that she and her team first learned about hermit crabs wearing litter when they noticed photos of them online. They decided to learn more by doing research. They found photos from all over the world. Scientists are sad to find that plastic pollution harms wildlife and living places in such a terrible way. But they aren't sure why hermit crabs are choosing plastic instead of other materials. Nor are they sure how many crabs are in any danger.
66. What does the underlined word “They” in Paragraph 2 refer to (指的是)
A.Shells. B.Hermit crabs.
C.Our times. D.Kids' homes.

The kites in Weifang never disappoint. Every year the Weifang International Kite Festival amazes visitors with creative kites, as “paper birds” of varied designs keep appearing in the sky.
Kites in China can originate from the Warring States Period when Mozi made the first “wooden kite”. Kites didn't actually become popular until the Ming Dynasty. By the middle of the Qing Dynasty, artists who were good at kite making began to appear in Weifang. In 1984, the first Weifang International Kite Festival was held.
Kites were used in China during the wars at the very beginning. Over time, kites became connected with relaxing activities, and were often flown during festivals and holidays.
Today, kite flying is a popular activity in China, and the Weifang International Kite Festival is one of the largest kite festivals in the world. In 2024, 622 kite artists from 59 countries and areas took part in the event. Zhang Xiaodong, 74, has attended all the festivals. In the early days, he only brought traditional kites to take part in the competitions, but this time, he used sound and light to make the story of Chang'e flying to the moon come “alive”.
The festival is a great platform to share kite making skills. It also brings the people of China and other countries closer. As one citizen put it, “No matter how far away kite lovers go, there is always a ‘thread’ in their hearts that can pull them together.”
70.Why does the Weifang International Kite Festival surprise visitors every year
A.Because the Weifang International Kite Festival is held once a year.
B.Because the Weifang International Kite Festival attracts a lot of visitors every year.
C.Because the kite has a history of more than 2,000 years in China.
D.Because creative kites of varied designs keep appearing in the sky.
71. What does the underlined word “originate” in the second paragraph mean in Chinese
A.起源 B.发展 C.制造 D.融合
72. What can we learn about the kite festival according to the passage
A.It has been held in Weifang 40 times.
B.It is the largest kite festival in the world.

D.Zhang Xiaodong didn't attend the festival in 2024.

It was a fine afternoon. As I was riding a bike home from my office as usual, I noticed a person cycling in front of me, about 300 meters away. I could tell he was a little slower than me and I decided to catch up with him. It was about one kilometer to go before I had to turn off the road, so I started cycling faster and faster.
Every block, I was gaining on him just a little bit. In a few minutes, I was only about 100 meters behind him. I got so excited that I really picked up speed, trying my best to push myself.
Finally, I made it. I passed him and felt pretty good on the inside at that moment. I beat him, of course, but he didn't even know we were racing. He was still cycling slowly along the road.
And after riding past him, I was aware (意识到) I had missed my turn as a result of being so focused (专注的) on competing with him. I had gone almost six blocks further and had to turn around and go all the way back.
Is that what happens in life when we pay too much attention to others, trying to pass them and prove that we are more successful We spend our time and energy chasing (追逐) after them and at last we miss out on our own directions. So______.

三、 Maybe in the future people will fly up into space and spend their holidays on the moon, and scientists will live under the sea. With the help of robots, women won't have to do housework. They will enjoy more free time. I think bookstores will be closed because there will be no paper books or magazines. People will read e books. They are light and cool. And children won't go to school every day. There will be some e schools. Children can study at home through the Internet or on TV. What's more, the environment will be better and people will live longer than before.
四、 W:Hello, everyone. I'm Holly. All of us have some wonderful memories at junior high school. Today I want to tell you one of my wonderful memories. I thought they were cute but a little noisy. Then we saw some tigers. They were really strong. After that, we saw many other animals. Among those animals, I like Zulu best. Zulu is the tallest giraffe in the world. It is 5.8 meters tall. My classmates and I took many photos of it. All of us had great fun that day.

Dear Tom,
I'm excited to share with you our experience in our school's unique “AI Teaches You Calligraphy” course. The course was taught by an AI teacher, which was the reason why my friends and I took the course.
Last week, we gathered in the computer lab to learn the basics of Chinese calligraphy. The AI program guided us through the strokes and techniques, showing us how to hold the brush and form the characters. It was amazing to see how the AI could change its teaching style based on our progress. We really enjoyed the course. Not only did we learn a new skill, but we also had a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. The AI program made learning calligraphy easy and fun.
I highly recommend this course to you because you are interested in learning Chinese calligraphy. I'm sure you would find it rewarding.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours,
Li Hui
