一、非谓语动词作主语
动词不定式（to do）和动名词（doing）都可作主语。动词不定式作主语常表示具体的、一次性的动作；动名词作主语多表示抽象的、习惯性的动作。如：To complete this project will take us a long time.（具体动作）；Swimming is my favorite sport.（习惯性动作）。
二、非谓语动词作宾语
有些动词后只能接动名词作宾语，常见的有：admit, appreciate, avoid, consider, delay, enjoy, finish, imagine, mind, miss, practice, suggest等；有些动词后只能接动词不定式作宾语，如：afford, agree, ask, choose, decide, expect, hope, manage, offer, plan, pretend, promise, refuse, want, wish等；还有些动词既可接动名词又可接动词不定式作宾语，但意义有差别，如：remember, forget, regret等。remember/forget/regret to do sth. 表示“记得/忘记/后悔要做某事”，remember/forget/regret doing sth. 表示“记得/忘记/后悔做过某事”。

一、动词不定式作定语
动词不定式作定语通常后置，与被修饰词之间存在逻辑上的动宾关系、主谓关系或同位关系。如：I have a letter to write.（动宾关系，write a letter）；The man to come here is my teacher.（主谓关系，the man will come）；He gave me a chance to study abroad.（同位关系，a chance就是to study abroad）。
二、分词作定语
现在分词（doing）作定语表示主动和进行，过去分词（done）作定语表示被动和完成。如：The running boy is my classmate.（主动进行，boy和run是主动关系且动作正在进行）；The broken cup was thrown away.（被动完成，cup和break是被动关系且动作已完成）。

一、动词不定式作状语
动词不定式作状语可表示目的、结果、原因等。作目的状语时，常位于句首或句中；作结果状语时，常表示意想不到的结果，常与only连用；作原因状语时，常放在表示情感的形容词后。如：To get good grades, he studies hard.（目的状语）；He hurried to the station, only to find the train had left.（结果状语）；I'm glad to hear the good news.（原因状语）。
二、分词作状语
现在分词（doing）作状语表示主动和进行，过去分词（done）作状语表示被动和完成。分词作状语时，其逻辑主语要与句子的主语一致。如：Walking in the street, I met an old friend.（主动进行，I和walk是主动关系且动作正在进行）；Given more attention, the plants could grow better.（被动完成，plants和give是被动关系且动作已完成）。

一、动词不定式作补足语
在一些感官动词（如see, hear, watch, notice等）和使役动词（如make, let, have等）后，接不带to的动词不定式作宾语补足语，但在被动语态中要加上to。如：I saw him play basketball. → He was seen to play basketball. 另外，有些动词（如ask, tell, want, allow等）后常接带to的动词不定式作宾语补足语。
二、分词作补足语
现在分词（doing）作补足语表示主动和进行，过去分词（done）作补足语表示被动和完成。如：We saw the children playing games.（主动进行，children和play是主动关系且动作正在进行）；He had his hair cut.（被动完成，hair和cut是被动关系且动作已完成）。
