Ruby was so proud of her new skates! She put them on right away and was soon rushing along the sidewalk. Her little brother Max could only watch in envy.
“I wish I had a pair!” he told his mum.
“Well, you’re nearly big enough to wear Ruby’s old skates,” she replied.
But when Max tried on Ruby’s old skates, they were too big. He stuffed newspaper into the boots. Much to his disappointment, he fell over each time he tried to stand up in them.
Finally, he gave up, only watching Ruby skating around him.
“I should put on a skating display!” Ruby decided. “All our aunts, uncles and cousins will come. You’ll watch me, Max ”
Max sighed. He didn’t want to watch the show. He wanted to be in it! “Poor Max!” said his mum. Then, she took out a pair of thick red socks to let Max pull them on with the hope of fitting better.
Max eye d the red socks skeptically, saying, “Mum, these look just like my red soccer socks, but smaller.” His mum smiled, “Ah, your red soccer socks are too thin and meant for running, but these are magic socks that have the power to expand and stretch to fit most feet...”
Magic When Mum left the room, Max took the wand (魔杖) from his magic set and waved it around a few times, “Magic socks, you are so great! Use your magic to help me skate” Max slipped the socks on and tried skating in his bedroom. He didn’t full over! He tried again. He still didn’t fall. He could now skate— thanks to his magic socks! Hooray!
The next morning, when he skated up to Ruby on one foot, she stared in amazement.“ Max, you are magic!” Thrilled, Ruby invited him to join in the show. To prepare well for the show, Max practiced happily with the magic socks on every day. Max even tried tricks like jumps, believing the socks would help him.

主旨升华句(5 句英文)
Sometimes, the magic we believe in is not just a supernatural force, but the power of our own efforts and determination that lead us to achieve our dreams.
Through Max's experience, we learn that the support and encouragement from family, even in the form of a little white lie, can inspire us to overcome difficulties and reach new heights.
This story shows that what seems like magic at first glance may turn out to be the result of our own hard work, and that self - belief and practice are the true keys to success.
Max discovered that the real magic behind his skating skills was not in the socks, but in his willingness to try and improve, reminding us that true growth comes from within.
In the journey of life, we may look for external magic to solve our problems, but it's often our own perseverance and self - improvement that create the most amazing transformations.
写作示范一
The show time came and their family gathered in the garden. The grass was decorated with colorful balloons, and a small platform was set up in the middle. Max and Ruby stepped onto the platform, their faces beaming with excitement. Max, wearing his "magic socks", started with a smooth one - foot glide, then spun around gracefully. Ruby followed suit, showing off her own skills. The family cheered and clapped loudly, their voices filling the air. Max even managed a small jump, landing steadily on his feet, which brought even louder applause.
"But you're not wearing magic socks!" said Mum. As Max finished his performance, he tripped and tore one of his socks. To his surprise, he still managed to stand up and skate without falling. Mum came over and pointed out the now - torn sock. Max looked at it in shock at first. Then, he realized that it wasn't the socks that made him skate well, but his own practice. He smiled and said, "You're right, Mum. I guess I made my own magic with all that practicing." Everyone laughed, and Max felt a great sense of pride in his achievement.
写作示范二
The show time came and their family gathered in the garden. A soft breeze blew, making the flowers in the garden sway gently, as if they were also looking forward to the show. Max, with a big smile on his face, skated out first. He performed a series of difficult moves, like backward skating and fast - paced turns. Ruby joined him, and they skated in harmony, creating a wonderful display. The aunts, uncles and cousins were all amazed, constantly taking pictures and cheering.
"But you're not wearing magic socks!" said Mum. After the performance, Max was so excited that he didn't notice his sock had come off. Mum picked it up and showed it to him. Max was puzzled at first. Then, he remembered all the days he spent practicing. He realized that his hard work was the real magic. He said to his family, "I thought it was the socks, but it was really me. I'm so glad I practiced hard." Everyone nodded in agreement, and Max knew that this was a performance he would never forget, not because of the "magic socks", but because of his own growth.
【答案】
The show time came and their family gathered in the garden. Max was nervous, afraid that he would fall over again. However, everything went perfectly! The audience held their breath as the two siblings did their special skating tricks, turns and jumps and when it was over, they clapped and cheered. Max had never been more proud! Mum went to hug them and praised Max for his graceful skating skills. Max thanked Mum a lot and owed his success to his magic socks.
“But you’re not wearing magic socks!” said Mum. “I put them in the wash this morning.” Max stared at her, and then at magic socks, which were hanging on the washing line. Actually, he was wearing the red soccer socks. Max was so surprised that he could still skate — even without his magic socks! “You don’t need magic to skate,” said Mum. “You just need to practice and believe in yourself!” She was right! He could skate, all on his own.
