After completing a night shift, Jiang Hao heads home. The shadow of the college graduate stretches long in the morning light, bridging the young and the old.
Four years ago, Jiang chose to study eldercare management from dozens of available options. She knew little about eldercare at the time, but somehow felt it was a promising choice. Now, besides working shifts in the eldercare home, Jiang also takes on service requests from elderly individuals. She provides caregiving service at their homes, but often, her role is more focused on chatting with them about family conflicts or current affairs to reduce their sense of loneliness.
In 2020, Shandong Women's University admitted students for its newly established program in eldercare. These highly anticipated students graduated last summer, and many have secured eldercare-related jobs. These students attracted great attention before graduation, as they were reportedly highly sought after by employers at job fairs. While other graduates were busy going through interviews, Jiang and her classmates easily landed jobs due to their highly relevant professional knowledge and skills, along with a lack of competitors within the same age group with similar abilities.
The university's training program does work. Students are provided with comprehensive knowledge in the eldercare field from basic caregiving service to the operation of eldercare institutions, social work, nutriology (营养学), and the psychology of aging. Besides, students take a complete four-year system of practice, such as months-long practices at eldercare institutions.
Experts argue that the entry of young professionals brings hope to China's eldercare industry, which is dominated by the middle-aged and the less-educated. However, to address the challenges, including intense physical labor, emotional stress, and low social recognition, it is essential to provide young employees with clear career development pathways, improve their working conditions, and help them gain a sense of professional identity.
4. What do elderly individuals want most from Jiang
A. Commenting on current affairs. B. Keeping company with them.
C. Providing caregiving service. D. Settling their family conflicts.
5. Why did the students catch public interest before graduating
A. They stood out in the job interviews. B. They performed well in competitions.
C. They spread professional knowledge. D. They were in high demand at job fairs.
6. What do we know about the university’s training program
A. It puts stress on gaining social skills. B. It focuses on vital concepts in books.
C. It integrates academics with practice. D. It cares about students' mental health.
7. How do experts think about the development of eldercare
A. Rewarding but ignored. B. Essential but expensive.
C. Beneficial but unrealistic. D. Promising but challenging.

The nonprofit organization COSACOSA established its Healing Art Project in 1990. Working with hospitals, schools and community organizations, the program promotes physical and emotional healing for those suffering from illness and physical disabilities.
Since the Healing Art Project began, COSACOSA has initiated a number of projects that have brought people together to work on art pieces. Its founder Niemela still remembers its first project, which was created for the Philadelphia International Airport between its two terminals (航站楼). Children across the city made over 1,200 small sculptures. They represented hopes, desires, or wishes that were shared by people globally, and in turn, connected people with one another. The final piece, called Comnection, displayed these sculptures flowing from a pair of hands entwined (缠绕) to form the shape of a bird.
Betsy Leschinsky, a teacher and artist who worked on Connection, remembers how relieved the children at the local hospitals seemed to be when she offered them an opportunity to break from their routine of bed rest, needles, and testing. Learning that their works would be on display at the airport excited them. “It lifted their spirits; it was a hopeful moment for them,” said Leschinsky. “They expect that once I get out of here, I’ll be able to see this.”
Connection hung between the two terminals for 11 years as the airport’s exhibition program. The hope was that travelers, whether arriving, departing or rushing to make a connection, would pause for a moment to consider their own role within their community, and to remind them that we were all connected. “We want to reclaim the original role of art, which was to bring people together,” said Niemela. “If the process is healing that’s great, but ultimately, it’s about building communities.”
8. What can we learn about Connection from paragraph 2
A. It connected the airports. B. It offered a resting place.
C. It conveyed good wishes. D. It had sculptures of birds.
9. What can be inferred from Leschinsky’s words about the project
A. It cheered sick children. B. It do lighted art teachers.
C. It excited talented artists. D. It benefited the hospitals.
10. Why was the project Connection built
A. To stress one’s role in groups. B. To give directions to travelers.
C. To display children’s artworks. D. To share local life experiences.
11. Which might be a suitable title for the text
A. Artworks Connect Air Travelers B. Find Your True Self in Artworks
C. Healing Power of Children’s Art D. Healing Art Builds Communities

Many seemingly serious personality tests are not supported by research. Despite being a billion-dollar industry, commercial personality testing does not predict success. That’s because most tests assume one’s characters are static.
Researches confirm that people can intentionally shape their characters. That’s contrary to their assumption that your personality type places you in a box, directing how you choose partners, activities and careers.
You can think of personality as labels that summarize your responses to questions as follows. Do you think about situations more pessimistically, or are you a glass-half-full kind of person Do you wait until the last minute to complete tasks, or do you plan ahead Depending on your answers, you might be labeled as a certain personality. However, people often view personality as the core of who they are. According to scientific definitions, personality is not one’s likes, dislikes or preferences. It’s not your values or what you think is important. Shifting characters does not change the core of who you are. It simply means responding to situations with different thoughts and behaviors.
Here is a common example. Suppose you’re not super reliable. If you start to think “being on time shows others that you respect them”, to feel pride when you arrive to a dinner party before friends, and to engage in new behaviors that increase your timeliness (守时) — such as getting up with an alarm and setting appointment reminders — you are demonstrating the features of a reliable person. If you maintain these changes to your thoughts and behaviors over time — ta-da! — you are reliable.
Besides, personality changes across a person’s lifetime. As people grow older, they tend to experience fewer negative emotions, become more considerate, place greater emphasis on harmonious relationships and are less critical of others. Slow yet steady changes in thoughts and behaviors can eventually develop the personality people desire.
12. What does the underlined word “static” in paragraph 1 mean
A. Flexible. B. Constant. C. Complex. D. Predictable.
13. What is the main idea of paragraph 3
A. Questions help people understand labels. B. Planning ahead leads to completing tasks.
C. Negative beliefs tend to worsen situations. D. Personality is how one thinks and behaves.
14. What does the common example show
A. How to manage the time. B. How to maintain changes.
C. How to change personality. D. How to increase timeliness.
15. How might people become as they age
A. Critical. B. Positive. C. Selfless. D. Reliable.

Search for a camp that fits your needs.

Every spring, the posters appeared around our neighborhood, inviting parents to sign up their kids for the National Basketball League. It was a fun way to spend weekends in spring, and introduced kids to the joy of the game on ball courts.
But things were a little different in my family. My father knew next to nothing about basketball or sports in general. His most genuine wish as a boy came when he was taking PE class, “Please, please, please don’t let the ball come to me.”
He later became the father of eight-year-old me, who was interested in the sport. Saturday mornings, he had to take me out to the playground and we’d play ball with a few other young boys and their dads. He was so glad those fathers could coach and knew the rules of the game.
He’d play catch with me, and thanks to his weak arms, the ball would drop near his feet before I could get in position to catch it. After a few too many misses one day, I sank to the ground and said, “How am I ever going to make the major league ”
Deep down in my heart, I wanted to tell him, “You are the wrong dad!” I meant it! I still clearly remembered that when he’d gone to the sporting goods store, he bought me a pair of gloves for a baseball player. How could a basketball fan want gloves for the game he had no interest in at all That’s how clueless he was.
Still, he wanted to find some way of giving me confidence on the court, the confidence he’d never had since childhood. There was an official Teen League in our area, but it was super-competitive and only welcomed older boys. He wanted something that welcomed younger boys like me, something that welcomed athletically talented fathers like most fathers, and most importantly, something that welcomed with-no-athletic-talent fathers like him.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

【答案】Dear organizers,
I’m Li Hua, a high school student who participated in your lecture this weekend. I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the wonderful lecture on AI-assisted language learning.
The speaker vividly introduced various AI tools, like language learning apps, which greatly broadened my horizons. The examples given were practical and engaging, making the complex concept easy to understand.
To further enhance the lectures, I suggest adding more interactive sessions. For instance, setting up group discussions or hands-on activities for participants to try out the AI tools. This way, we can better apply what we’ve learned.
Thank you again. Looking forward to more such great lectures.
Yours,
Li Hua

【47题答案】
【答案】He shared the idea with a couple of neighbors. To his surprise, they loved it. One dad, who coached soccer, offered to design simple drills. Another, a teacher, suggested organizing friendly matches. They decided to create a “Little Champions League” where every kid could play, regardless of skill. Fathers like mine would assist with scoring or cheering, while sporty dads coached. We practiced on weekends, laughing at clumsy passes and celebrating every basket. Slowly, my frustration faded as I realized even imperfect play could be fun.
Finally, a non-profit organization helped. They provided funding for jerseys and court rentals. Our first game drew dozens of families. Watching Dad proudly hand out water bottles, I suddenly understood — his love wasn’t about basketball expertise. When I scored my first point, he cheered louder than anyone. By season’s end, our league had become a community tradition. Dad’s quiet determination taught me that true support means showing up, even when you’re out of your depth.
